Aussie game charts: April 23-29

TMNT takes top spot; Oblivion for PS3 debuts at fourth position.

T-U-R-T-L-E power reigned supreme in Australia last week, with the latest PlayStation 2 adventures of Donatello and the gang taking the top spot in the overall Australian game charts for the week of April 23 to April 29.

TMNT took the number-one spot from Diddy Kong Racing for the Nintendo DS, which slipped back a place to land in second position, according to data trackers GfK Australia. Nintendo games had a strong showing in the overall top 10, with five entrants including Sonic and the Secret Rings and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii, and Bratz: Forever Diamondz and Animal Crossing: Wild World for the Nintendo DS.

The PlayStation 3 port of last year's role-playing game hit The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion had a strong debut Down Under, coming in at fourth spot in the overall charts. Two other PS3 games made the top 10--MotorStorm and Resistance: Fall of Man.

    I'm a little surprised that no XBOX 360 games got into the combined Top 10 chart. But then again, I'm confused as to how Need for Speed Carbon outsold Motorstorm on the PS3 list, but didn't make it into the combined list at all.

    Nonetheless, it seems that Sony and Nintendo are sharing the love in Australia and Microsoft is getting a little squeezed out. Australia isn't a huge market, globally speaking, but Microsoft best be taking note of the trend before it gets out of hand.

    How about giving European and US PS3 owners something to gloat about?

    And fuman, Square have already stated that FF XIII will not be a Playstation exclusive... they just haven't mentioned what other format they intend to release it on.

    With God of War 2 (PS2), Final Fantasy III (DS), Spidey 3 (multi-platform) and LOTR: Online (PC) released in Australia this week, next week's chart should look slightly more interesting. At least one would hope.

    Power to Zelda, still holding in there after 5 months or so!

    I love how 360 people still come up an try to bash the PS3 . Its not working now guys so just give it up. Stop making excuses for it cause its not in the top 10. Stop trying to believe your little fairy tale of FF and MGS4 coming to the 360. Just let it be.....

    Gears came after a year and it really hyped up the 360... It might be fun but im not really in too shooters... Dead Rising looks intresting tho, killing zombies is always fun ^_^...

    I wonder why some people want to declare a certain console is better than another.

    If games will be released for every console, it doesn't matter which console you will get, right.

    I believe that would apply only for old games. And it's understandable because PS3 came 1 year later than 360. New games usually be released simultaneously for every console, for example TMNT...

    I've gotta say a few things to every1 who wrote in this post. I own a 360 and a PS3. I'm constantly asked "Which is better?" My answer......... They're different in almost every way. At the moment the 360 is murdering the PS3 as developers aren't used to coding for the Cell processer. The 360 has the greatest on-line functions a console has ever seen (added Windows Live messenger 7/5/07). Sony's HOME ( I think that's it name) should be ok but X-Live is (hands down) number 1. We can all argue which is better till we run outta breathe but it'll never solve who's got the better console. G.O.W is probably the best single player game I've ever played, but the multiplayer was ****house. MGS 2 & 3 were close to the WORST THINGS EVER MADE. I used both of the disks as coasters when my Relo's came over. As to this weeks charts, nothing was released on 360 so your boasting for N.O.T.H.I.N.G u twits. TMNT was? Oh, sorry. That's a kids game and kiddies own a ps2 so why wouldn't it outsell everything? If you want a console now, 360 is BY FAR number 1. 12 months time, I'll review that statement. So every1 who doesn't OWN (not just played) both consoles, every argument you'll ever make isn't relevent..... only bias. Oh and 1 more thing...... I HATE HALO 1 and 2. I love R6V and MGS STILL STINKS.

    Problem for MS I believe in my opinion, is aussies and Europe don't buy into american hype. We have all your **** over here.. Most of which is cool, but we get to see how hyped things are and have no real substance. One downfall that Sony has is not investing in the PAL regions First. We have been loyal and always get burnt. But we believe in the product. So Sony PAL first

    As for I would have thought the console was too expensive atm, as is the software.

    Unlike americans, we see it as well that is an ok price considering a blu ray is $1000au, and look at what it has to offer. Might be a big price but sometimes you gtta break it down to see what benefits you get with the price. I paid $999au and I'm pleased with it. I have no regrets even if it went down tomorrow to $799

    PS GoW has already been on the charts - still can't hold it in AU

    FF and MGS are maybe coming to the 360 so whats the point.

    BS... That is a MS hype. Hideo stated that MGS is for the ps3 as MGS is a Theater equivalent game and stated that the PS3 is like the theater, 360 is Home DVD set up. He said he wants MGS to have the best movie like feel which is ps3. Also square might make games for ms. Thy said ff13 is for ps3.

    The charts are great. It shows how only the uSA has the 360. Whereas the PAL region has Sony and Nintendo Written all over it. To bad so sad for MS

    Mass Effect, Halo 3, Dead rising, we had oblivion for a year as a timed exclusive, same with SC, R6, FEAR, and a bunch of other games the ps3 is only getting that we;ve already played...

    Theres no point in getting a ps3 because dmc 4 is on 360,gta is on the 360, FF and MGS are maybe coming to the 360 so whats the point.

    Its had games in the top ten for a few weeks now and has been consistent. The 360 isn't the godly system you all make it out to be, name me one exclusive that isn't called Gears of War that is truly a AAA title, cause I don't know of any. And besides, at least on the PS3 and Wii LESS than 90% of its games are shooters.
