Capcom today released the first concrete details about Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law, and confirmed gamers' suspicions that it will play out its own courtroom drama in a fashion similar to Phoenix Wright.

Calling the game primarily an "interactive story that the player participates in," the publisher said the game would consist of a series of cases, each with its own characters and setting. Furthermore, players will vindicate the accused by examining the crime scenes and poking holes in the testimony for the prosecution.

The game won't be entirely derivative of Phoenix Wright, however. The TV show's writers are going to assist Capcom in bringing the series' particular brand of humor to the game, and familiar plot devices will be included, like Birdman discussing the case with the opposing prosecutor over drinks.
