Guitar Hero III will add online multiplayer, wireless

Next incarnation of the popular music game franchise will feature both cooperative and competitive online modes, as well as wireless guitar controllers; Wii and PS3 editions now official.

On board a specially designed Guitar Hero rock bus in London today, RedOctane president and founder Kai Huang confirmed details about the third installment of the Guitar Hero game to GameSpot.

Huang announced the game's platforms--as rumoured, it will indeed be coming to the Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 2, arriving in stores just before the end of year holidays. There will also be a Nintendo DS version of the series, which will arrive "early next year."

The latest game will also boast new wireless controllers "so that fans can finally rock out in their living room and jump off their couches and do all that crazy rock star stuff." There will also be a variety of colours and a new design for the guitar controllers, along with some higher-end options made to look and feel more like real guitars.

Like developer Harmonix's recently announced Rock Band, Guitar Hero III will also feature strong online elements. There will be both cooperative and competitive online modes, along with extra downloadable content.

"We've got a lot of songs and artists still that we would love to have," Huang commented. "In particular, we've been trying to get Metallica, AC/DC, and Led Zeppelin. So hopefully sometime in the near future, my wish and everybody's wish will come true and we can get some of their music in the game."

    @Louis_Routledge:

Dude nice list, but "living dead girl" has gotta go. I heard enough Rob Zombie stuff back in 1998 when it was in every single video game made that year.

i cant see why the bands wouldnt want thier songs in GHIII its good publicity plus theyll get sum money out of it ad it will boost sales plus itll make GH a kik ass game

If they were to put Walk in GH 3 I'd personally rather hear the actual Pantera version, not a cover. Nothing against Avenged Sevenfold, but they could just use a digital version of the Pantera song and go form there.

Just as long as it's Metallica's decent stuff.
All of the below, I can play on my guitar [=
My ideal playlist (however I could go on for hours ^__^):

Walk - Avenged Sevenfold (Pantera Cover)
2 Minutes To Midnight - Iron maiden
    My Apocalypse - Arch Enemy
Lil' Bloodred Ridin' Hood - Children Of Bodom
    Gears of War - Megadeth
Lips Like Morphine - Kill Hannah
    Axis of Evil - Sodom
In The Fall - Billy Talent
Dying In Your Arms - Trivium
    Sons of Plunder - Disturbed
The Fight Song - Marilyn Manson
Head Like A Hole - Still Remains
The Phantom of The Opera - Nightwish
Danger Is Go! - Powerman 5000
    Love? - Strapping Young Lad
Falling Away From Me - Korn
    The Enemy - Static X
Living Dead Girl - Rob Zombie
    Jumpda****up - Soulfly
    The Clincher - Chevelle
    Not Listening - Papa Roach

I wouldn't get my hopes up on Led Zepplin. They have a big thing about people using their songs. They make a ton of money from record sales and they're so universally known they don't need to do too many things like GH. Metallica is the same way, although they might need the exposure with their recent decline in popularity. I don't think AC/DC's ever been too tight with their songs, though. Dunno why they haven't had songs in Guitar Hero yet.

Children of Bodom needs to be featured in GHIII. 'Lil' Bloodred Ridin' Hood' would likely make the greatest guitar hero track of all time. Listen to it and you'll understand why.

this is just gonna be great, hopefully the final song will be the monster that is Achilles Last Stand. the other thing i wonder at this time will be controller design of the wii model, most likely it will be a add on to the wiimote and give us added functionality of lap steel style for multiplayer mode. now i am going to place bet that the design of the wii version will be the firebird, since each platform has a unique gibson ax, and i do not think that they will make rock fans jealous by giving wii owners the les paul

I agree with Apu, even as a 360 gamer. I never had a problem PAYING so much for a controller and game. Plus the DLC isnt really that bad, just suck it up and buy it for GODS sake.

I will most likely buy this with the controller again. It doesnt hurt having 2 of these controllers, plus wireless is SWEEEETNESS!

I hope this and Rock Band are great games.

All annoying 360 fanboys SHUT UP!

We don't care about your wiinning

"OH NO, I have to pay %90 again!" no duh they will release the game seperately.

We hate hearing your consistent whining about the 360 version of the game. I will buy the PS3 version, and I don't CARE about how much the songs cost. If I can get songs at $1.00 each, I'll buy them! Besides if they release it on 3 online consoles the songs WILL be cheaper.

If you don't agree fine! Go make a website called:

'www.whyguitarherosukson360.com' and then all u 360 fanboys will leavce us alone!
