PS3 in for a big September

Semi-official Sony blog pegs release month for Heavenly Sword, Lair, Killzone, Ratchet & Clank, Warhawk; mentions PS3 edition of Wipeout Fusion.

Sony's "semi-official" blog Three Speech claims that the release dates for a handful of hotly anticipated PlayStation 3 games have been narrowed down to September.

"That's when we'll see Heavenly Sword, the ultra-responsive arena-based swordfighting game, innovative dragon-fighting game Lair and the air, foot and vehicle combat game Warhawk, which is still looking likely to be released over the PlayStation Network rather than in the shops," according to the latest posting on the site. "First-person shooter Killzone, too, should surface in September, as well as the first PS3 version of Ratchet & Clank."

The post also makes a few eyebrow-raising mentions of the PS3 receiving an "HD-ised" port of the PlayStation 2 title Wipeout Fusion, as well as Irrational Games' BioShock. This is especially surprising, as Microsoft announced at its X06 event in Barcelona last year that Irrational Games' submerged shooter would be exclusive to the Xbox 360 and PC. Chosen by GameSpot editors as the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2006 Game of the Show, Bioshock was originally slated to be released on the PC and "next-generation console systems."

When contacted for comment by GameSpot, a Sony representative pointed out that Three Speech is a semi-official blog handled by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and said the only game on the list with a confirmed US date is Lair, which should arrive in July.

[UPDATE]: The Three Speech blog has since been updated with a notice that reads, "There is currently no indication that BioShock will come out on the PS3. Apologies for the previously inaccurate information."

    what makes me laugh is 99% of the people how say "I hate fanboyism" already have all the current systems. If you only have one, ofcourse you are going to be bias towards that system, it is your choice of system and in your eyes it is the best. It is OK to publicly defend your system of choice, and even make mention of why you choose it over the competition, the only thing that has to go is the pointless trash talk.

    Yeah, i agree with juan99692k6, i hate fan-boy's but both consoles are like the game, they entertain you when you get bored, you can play people online for more fun. I may have a PS3 but my friend has a Xbox 360, sometimes i go too his too play on it and he does the same for my PS3. So just stop with the stupid fighting.

    I hate fanboyism, i currently have both consoles Xbox 360 and PS3. i haven't bought a Wii cuz it doesn't interests me that much. due mainly to the few online Games Nintendo have. Micosoft and Sony are the monsters in that field (Microsoft is a bigger monster of course) but every system has its strenghts and weaknesses for example. Xbox 360 is wonderful when it comes to first person shooters such as: the Halo Series, Gears of War , Bioshock, Call of Duty , Medal of Honor, and so on. In the other hand , Playstation Is very skillful when it comes to grab the attetion of the general public like Rpgs : Final fantasy Series, Chrono Series and on. The action Espionage Series like: Metal Gear Solid. and some miscellaneous FPS like Killzone make the PS3 a Wonderful machine for the whole family . i bought both systems So that i'm never missed out with a good game. Fanboyism doesn't leave us anything good, for the contrary , we ended up missing great experiences

    Forget all of you Killzone/Halo people and your little scraps. RATCHET AND CLANK! That's the reason I'm buying a PS3. You have to admit, its just a fun game. Not that Halo isn't nice, just not my cuppa joe.

    before this game is release i wanna see a demo, dont want this game to be rated like Lair. for me this month is Heavenly sword, Stranglehold for ps3 and HALO 3

    I'm going to disagree with everyone who says Killzone was and is PS3 solution to Xbox's Halo. The original killzone was no way near blowing either of the previous Halo games out of the water. Sure it was a fun game, but it had too many problems, not to mention at sometimes choppy graphics. Now don't get me wrong, Killzone 2 looks great, but I believe some of the same problems will return. One more thing, Halo 3 is going to out sell Killzone 2 by a highly noticeable margin. More people are going to buy a 360 to play Halo then people buying a PS3 to play Killzone also.

    Not really, Halo has been more popular than Killzone for years and it will probably make the PS3 more popular as will MGS4 when it comes out, just have to see which game will be better than the other, both games look amazing no doubt. The last thing we need is a argument about Killzone being an apparent Halo killer or whatever.

    Nicely put Goldylocks!!!! Surely the vast majority of those who subscribe to GS in fact own all 3 consoles, or certainly would if they had the cash. I have a 360, have done since launch, and as soon as funds are available I will be getting a PS3 and a Wii. Why anyone would limit themselves is just plain stupid. If you check the forums over at Cheesespot you will see that subscribers enjoy a wide range of cheeses. Not just cheddar!!!LOL!!!

    i agree with Goldylocks33, if my brother got a Xbox 360 i would play with him, i have a PS3 and he will play with me aswell, so i'll get 1 console and let my brother get the other 1. I just hate the fan-boys of each console, they both have there up's and down's and people have to get over it.

    O and from what I've heard, Bioshock and Haze will be doing a trade of sorts. Bioshock should come out in about 6 months for PS3 and about 6 months after Haze's PS3 release it will be transferred to the 360. But thats just some spec I've heard in magazines. So we'll see.

    Why does everyone have to be fanboys. Look both the PS3 and the 360 have their strong points. I don't know why every PS3 article and every 360 article no matter what it is about has to have at least one person complaining about how their system is better than the other. Halo 3 is gonna be revolutionary. Look at the number of presales already. Over a million in the states alone. That is huge for THE INDUSTRY. It sets a huge landmark in this industry showing everyone that gaming is a serious thing. And at the same time PS3 is huge. Blu-ray technology, using full 1080p in all of their games, things like Killzone that are amazing pieces of software pushing the limits of what was thought possible in animation. I love both consoles and I'm just so sick of everyone complaining about "Blu-ray is pointless and Sony has no good games" and "O Gears and Halo are dumb". Just live with the fact that both consoles are different. I mean who honestly wouldn't have both consoles if they could.

    i think one game doesnt make diiference the Sony must try to keep all his previous legendary titles exclusive for sony playstation brand..

    I read in a Scandinavian gaming magazine that Sony wish to release Killzone on the same date as Halo 3 is released for the 360. All these secrets may just be a publicity stunt. From what I read they plan both the game release and a massive commercial campaign September 25!!! Hopefully it's true, it would sure make for an exiting day. Who would have won this great game release battle?

    Quite right EMM44. This is the era of multiplatforming not of exclusives. The rising cost of making videogames has rendered developers unable to make products for just one system. Unless developed by Sony or Microsoft itself.

    Although its been updated to say Bioshock wont come to PS3 now, I think Sony is going to throw a ton of money at Irrational Games so they can inflick some kind of blow to Microsoft seeing the 360 had moved in on so much PS3 territory.

    It's the dead season for games period, you want to know why cause its spring and summer when most people are on vacation from school and work and probally also this time of year not alot of people have money for games or willing to use it to instead enjoy the outdoors and social lives.

    Have to agree with MATT its a dam good line up( lair is made by the guys who dev rogue squadron on the cube.) Have to say though im feeling a bit guilty this time round due to the exspense of the two big consoles. Don't want to own the 360 and ps3 but with the strong games on both consoles i might just have too. Dam it.

    Yeah nintendo need to change things up a bit. would like to see a new donkey kong game though. When metroid came out for the cube i was really impressed and would like to see a few more first party dev working with nintendo step up to the plate.

    Yeah rare was a massive massive loss(banjo,perfect dark and diddy kong racing were brilliant) They have not made a spectacular game for a long time but there definately on the right track with kameo, perfect dark zero and viva pinata (really enjoyed all of these.) Hope that the banjo game there working on lives up to its massive expectations.

    excellent looking trio, heavenly sword, lair and killzone (and maybe warhawk akthough dissapointing no single player)

    i do not have a ps3 yet, but intend to get one once there is a game i feel i must have enough to spend out. the only one that fits the bill so far is oblivion but i have it on 360 already.

    i cant wait for a good action adventure or rpg to come, then i will def get myself a ps3

    Yep, Nintendo is cool also. But from the last years big N gives only a new Mario, new Zelda, new Metroid... it's so repeative. And finally they lost their best developers, Rare.

    Yeah a monpoly would not be good foe us gamers. Allow one company to charge us more for less. I suppose in the end it comes down to the games you enjoy. i like rpgs,shooters,sports and racers so i like the 360 lineup better this year. But i also have a wii because no matter which console you choose theres nothing like a nintendo game. I would like to play heavenly sword and rachet and clank but untill i feel ps3 is value for money i will refrain from buying it.

    i think it will also be a close call this time around and may see all companies involved come out as winners.
