Shadow Hearts 3 coming to New World of Europe
Aruze's RPG finally confirmed for a release across PAL territories courtesy of publisher Ghostlight.
European fans of quirky Japanese role-playing games will be breathing a sigh of relief today because Shadow Hearts: From the New World is officially dated for Europe. After a wait of well over a year since the game released in North America and nearly two years since its debut in Japan, it seemed as if PAL regions might have been forgotten. Not so--the PlayStation 2 game is now penciled in for a May release date, courtesy of publishing company Ghostlight.
The game is the first in the Shadow Hearts series to switch location away from a European setting and into the New World of the Americas. Set in 1929, it focuses on a motley band of characters, including Johnny Garland, a 16-year-old private detective, and Shania, a Native American woman who possesses the ablility to fuse with powerful spirits.
Johnny witnesses an evil demon coming through a "window" whilst working on a missing person's case and becomes determined to discover the truth behind the apparition. His quest takes him to locations including New York, Las Vegas, and Roswell.
Shadow Hearts: From the New World also features the judgment ring system, as used in the previous two series incarnations, and adds the stock system, where characters can build up power to use special attacks and perform powerful combo attacks.
Developed by Azure, the game was originally released on July 23, 2005, in Japan and on March 7, 2006, in the US. It will be arriving in PAL regions in May 2007.

What took so long? Is the thinking that European gamers only want to play games SET in Europe?!
SH2 was fantastic. I'm stoked that this is finally available.

I LOVED SH2 and I had given up ALL hope of this coming out here in England. I wonder why they've taken so long in getting this over here though?

I was really set to get into the series but backed off when I couldn't find out if SH3 was getting a pal release. Now that it is I might go find some of the older SH games to play before its release.

Yeah!!
Makes me very happy. I loved Shadow Hearts: Covenant, I was looking forward to this one, till people said this game was never gonna released in Europe. I didn't hope for this game anymore and now it's coming. Now still only Xenosaga Episode 3, and then it has been a great RPG year in Europe already.
This release gives me back hope for a XS3 release in Europe.

It's the opposite on PC. Europe has had Taito Legends 2 over a year, Sonic Mega Collection Plus was a year late here, Guilty Gear X2 has no sign of coming out here still...

man, europe is sooooo late... it's a shame! At least they're with kyoto and they are even better than kyoto...
and I'll make no comment on what the US and Canada are doing... lol
Anyway, at least here in north america, we can play the games when they pops out, maybe 6months after JAP or sometimes before ( like some mario bros. for an UNKNOWN reason :S, still wondering since they made it in japanese 1st... )

SH 3 was so disappointing. I was anticipating it so much after the masterpiece that was SH 2, but this game really disheartened me. The story was nowhere near the predecessors, and there are only a few vague references to them. On top of that, the characters of SH 3, are nowhere near as interesting as those from SH1 and especially SH2. Sure, some of the off the wall humor is still present, but disappointing nonetheless.

It has a number of similar elements with Covenant, but is a fine game all by itself. Have fun all you Europeans!

About damn time! I loved these games and the second one ranks up there as one of my favourite RPGs. Shame I haven't heard great things about this one... but we'll see... finally

Don't bother. First one was great, Covenant was even better and probably one of the finest RPG's last gen but SH3 is a a hug letdown.

I have to agree with tidus_ff.I played it and got halfway through but was bored to tears and promptly sold it.They seriously need to revamp the battle system.

As a EU gamer I'm not bothered anymore about the lack of games coming here, or the delay. Instead I simply import from the US using Ebay. It works out cheaper inc shipping. Shame the game is crap compared to the other 2.
SH1 was the best, very dark. SH2 very well made game, but didn't quite have that darkness that made SH1. Still a welcome sequel.
SH3 was simply crap and not worthy of the Shadow Hearts name.

That both sucks and rocks for Europe. Sucks that it's coming so late, rocks that they're getting it. Maybe Europeans should start making really awesome games, and then not give them to Japan.
