Retail Radar: Resident Evil 4 for Wii, more Namco Museums

New version of Capcom's 2005 zombie horror game glimpsed online alongside new nostalgia compilations for Nintendo's platforms.

Is Capcom's zombie horror hit Wii bound?

Given the backward compatibility feature of Nintendo's Wii, there's little doubt that Capcom's GameCube zombie action game Resident Evil 4 has racked up playtime on the system. While the survival horror game shambled its way onto the PlayStation 2 in late 2005 and should arrive on the PC sooner or later, a GameStop product listing for "Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition" spotted earlier today suggests that a version of the hit designed specifically for Nintendo's latest console is on the way.

Before it was pulled from the retailer's site, the listing offered no information about the game other than a $29.99 price point and an estimated ship date of June 25. If the listing proves accurate, it would be the second Resident Evil game to head to the Wii, alongside Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles.

Gamers looking for something a little more family friendly on the Wii might take heart in a product page for another as-yet-unannounced Wii title. Online rental service GameFly currently has a listing for Namco Museum Remix for the Wii, with an October 31 release date. A listing for a Nintendo DS edition of Namco Museum can also be found on the site.

The Namco Museum series has been compiling and rereleasing the publisher's arcade classics and obscure older games onto new systems since the days of the original PlayStation. However, it has yet to make an appearance on the latest round of consoles.

Please note, while retailer listings frequently jump the gun on publishers' product announcements, they should not be taken as final confirmation of a game's existence; nor should the absence of a listing be considered as proof that a game isn't coming to a given platform.

    @vashkey - You don't know what you are missing by not buying Res4 on the GC. Don't think about it, just buy it and see why is got 9.6 rating. It is the best version of the game which includes the mercenary edition. Worth it for the Mercenary edition alone. As for a wii version, good idea; but you cannot recreate the magic which once was. Meaning, Resident Evil 4 has been and gone. Stop re-hashing old games and bring some new ones. Resident Evil 4 is a masterpiece of a game, but the wii needs new titles, and quickly! I heard that Metroid 3 will not be released until 31 December 2007 or early 2008. Where the hell is Mario Galaxy... @SSJ_Tenx - True, Prince of Persia Rival Swords is a re-hash of Prince of Persia Two Thrones. Might be fun though using the wii remote for the whip. But again, where are the new titles...

    This is a great step in the right direction........but I have a better idea for nintendo....they should remake all their N64 and GC games into online multi-player games. Imagine playing 007Golden Eye online, or Smash Melee even Mario Party would be great. They need to do something to satisfy all the people who bought a Wii.

    This is weird, because the other day my friend and I were playing RE: 4 and I was thinking how great it would be on the Wii. Shoot zoombies heads off with pin-pont accuracy, shake off one og the undead that have lached on, or perform all the different actions in the game (shove a ladder out of the window). With all these mostions going on the game would be even more intense.

    Not a surprise it could be pretty cool using the Wiimote. I'm really disappointed with the Wii though, Nintendo should have tried to make the graphics better, even if it mean the Wii costing a little more.

    I have a Gamecube and a PS2 and surprisingly enough I didn't even attempt buying RE4. I thought it was way over rated. But if the wii version is going to be the ultimate version, maybe it was a good thing I held out on it then.

    thats is really kool....the wii mote will be wicked sick with this game......and Stucazzo ...its not really a port cause it first came out on the cube....this might be the best looking game on the wii beside zelda for this machine.

    I might be the only person on the site who hasn't played Resident Evil 4 yet. I was planning on picking up the PS2 version (for the extra content) but if this comes out for the Wii with still more content, I might get it there instead. So I can't say I'd be upset about that.

    Although a fantastic game. Another port of a game that is over a year old! GREAT!! I find it hard to get excited when companies just throw ports onto the wii. if the Wii is just going to be ports I would sell my Wii if it weren't for Nintendo titles coming out this year. But then again Nintendo can't even get solid 3rd party support since the SNES days. This is garbage!!

    I kinda figured it would come to this. Might be cool, but then again, RES4 is starting to get abused. The first edition of gamecube was the best, the ps2 version, slightly inferior and from I here the PC version my not be so great. Well, only time will tell.

    Capcom might just be using a RE 4 wii version just to figure out the best way to make the next RE wii game. A cheap way to see what controls work with a res evil game, so they can better structure the next title and still get a few bucks for it. Funding their R&D

    I wouldn't want an awesome looking game like RE5 with Hi-Res graphics downgraded just to play it on the Wii... RE4 is fine, but RE5...no...

    And I just got the PS2 version for the extras. Something major other than using the Wiimote would have to be added for me to even consider buying it a 3RD TIME...

    "crills" i couldnt agree with u more, and on the wii it might mean i have a chance at beating it i found it hard the first time and i gave up, im and impatient gamer and hate reading too much in a game ... DAMN YOU LEGEND OF ZELDA LMFAO crazy game just to much reading for me anyways and hate losing lol
    but wii + RE4 = Great Idea
    look what happened with zelda the wii made a great franchise even better, and it can do the same for RE4 look how good the gamecube did withit although it was underated because it was gamecube

    RE4 with motion control.. it was a great game for the gc i beat it so many times
    unlocked everything..
    making it look a little bit better..
    and giving it motion control.

    I agree with Somini. Its like LoZ:TP being on the GC and the Wii. There were two versions yet both could be played on the Wii. Hmmmm. Well noone complained about that. Also, ITS CAPCOM they pull this all the time, if your really surprised by this then you probably shouldn't be posting at all. I for one have the GC version and I've pretty much obliterated that game. Even if the Wii Edition has nothing new, which im assuming it does, since its called RE4: Wii Edition, I would still buy it if the price tag is $29.99. The only thing I ever found wrong with RE4 at all was the fact that you can't move while shooting. I really hope they added it to this edition, but im seriously doubting it. Plus I'm sure there remaking this for multiple reasons, most of which is sales. And Im sure Capcom got lots of hate mail from GC version owners about the PS2 version having all those extras. I personally think itd be awesome if Leon got a Mario costume, and have Ashley in a Peach costume. BUt until its actually announced its still all speculation if this is even true.

    The_Spoony_Hou, dood I couldn't agree more, like SF2 for instance, but all J companies seem to be doing this lately, Konami with DDR and now Square Enix is all port happy with classic FF's and FF13.

    It's probably a bit of our fault for buying into their shenanigans. I know I've bought a few FF remakes and Resident Evil remakes...

    I can't believe that some of you are bashing these rumours! All right, you've played the game before and don't want to play it again, then don't do it, but stop complaining!. Also calling it a cheap port when it probably will take use of the excellent wiimote, that's just ridiculous.

    I've played through RE4 on the GC 3 times, but I'm still excited about these rumors. Just imagine popping the head of a ganado with the wiimote or actually slash with your knife instead of pushing a button, that seems like heaven to me, since I'm a hardcore RE fan. And also, to those of you who are saying "C'mon, give me something new instead", haven't you heard of RE Umbrella Chronicles. Brand new RE game and only for the Wii, so you can't say that everything's crappy ports.
