Aussie game charts: March 5-11

Final Fantasy XII holds onto top spot; GRAW2 debuts in fifth place.

Final Fantasy XII continued its strong run in Australia this week, taking out the number one position in the latest game sales charts.

The newest entry in the long-running role-playing series has now been in the top spot for two weeks in a row, holding off The Sims 2: Seasons, which scored second position, according to data trackers GfK Australia.

Two new titles also cracked the overall top 10 this week. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 for the Xbox 360 had the stronger debut, snaring fifth position. Sonic and the Secret Rings for the Nintendo Wii landed in ninth spot.

Longtime top 10 entrant World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade looks to be slowly slipping out of the big leagues, falling to 10th this week after being fifth the previous week.

yeah we aussies don't buy and play as many violence games the government is pretty strict on game classifacations. Just about all FF's are M15+. Oh and most DS owners I know are girls. And go FFXII! Proud to be an owner of the game.

It's almost similar to the UK charts!

But I must say it's refreshing to see a chart that isn't glorfying gory or violent games for once. Cool!

im sick of seeing the sims in games charts all the bloody expansions are glorified item packs. Dam things are srcewing up our game charts but that will change one God of War 2 gets here in a month.

Our market is dominated by casuals so they buy many of these games. GRAW 2 just like Gears of War has not faired near as well as they did in the US, seems like shooters don't appeal to us as much.

It seems games in Austrailia are still bought mostly by kids and casuals...

gollum007, I have a theory as to why the Aussies are buying these so-called "kiddie" games: they have fun with them. Far-fetched, I know, but it's a possibility.

roflmao, bratz, scooby, sims (no surprise), WoW (ok what does everyone see in this overrated game?), desperate housewives, family guy, the legend of spyro (ok someone's on crack), supercars (wtf is this?), happy feet, buzz! junior jungle party bundle, avatar?, pokemon, madagascar, eragon, open season, excite truck, red steel, and super monkey ball?

wtf is wrong with the aussies?
alot of kiddy stuff in these charts, not too mention Pokemon?!!!, bratz, and more sims (always more sims games which are being milked because of all the dumb people that buy them)

it's quite to see DH on the Top 10 list along with Age of Empires 3. Aussie must have really different taste upon games. For Final Fantasy XII, right on! Love Ashe's miniskirt..from the back, especially..
