Shippin' Out 3/12-16: God of War II, Wii Tiger Woods

Ancient gods battle links legends for retail supremacy alongside PSP Call of Duty, PS3 College Hoops, and Sonic Spinball for the Wii.

Sony insists that the PlayStation 2 has several years left in its life cycle. However, it's unlikely that the platform will see a game of the same stature as God of War II ever again. Already lauded by critics as one of the finest PS2 action games made, the first-party Sony game's reign at retail was kicked off last night at a launch party in San Francisco.

Besides God of War, two other titles of note arrived on Sony platforms this week. Activision dispatched Call of Duty: Roads to Victory onto the PlayStation Portable while 2K Games shipped College Hoops 2K7 for the PlayStation 3.

Head down, elbows straight, and...another shank. So real!

The week's other big sports game was for a Nintendo platform. Months after it hit most other consoles, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 finally arrives on the Wii today, letting players slice and putt with real movements. The Wii will also receive three blasts from the past in the form of the Virtual Console titles Double Dungeons, Sonic Spinball, and Tecmo Bowl.

The sole Xbox 360 release for the week is Wednesday's Xbox Live Arcade game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The DS gets several minor titles, including Wiffle Ball Advance and QuickSpot. Meanwhile, IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946, Great Invasions, and Top Spin 2 bounce onto the PC.

    DL'd TMNT today, and got GoWII yesterday. Played that for quite some time last night, it's too awesome for words. Now I must go DL Tecmo Bowl.

    IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946, Great Invasions is actually a pretty good expansion. i dont want top spin 2 on my pc. having it on 360 is enough for me. I also finished milking tmnt's easy achievments. now all i have to do on my list is complete god of war 2

    TMNT is easy... You get all the lives you could possibly want. However, it is still a really fun game.

    the first GoW is such an amazing game,my friend has it,I dont have a PS2,I have a Wii,but man I love GoW lol, can't wait to play GoW 2

    If i weren't saving up for Super Paper Mario next month, I would probably pick up Tiger Woods for the wii on launch day. Wii golf is great so this new tiger woods game may just be amazing. Not to mention I kinda would like to see what they have done with Pokemon when it comes out on the DS next month.

    To bad Wally World (aka Walmart) REFUSES to Sell GoW 2 until 10 am Eastern tomorrow. I've called three states, and 5 locations and not one of them is able to sell the game until tomorrow. Not even at midnight they've all said, all but one who said they might be able to sell it at midnight but wasn't sure... Our local Wally World has SIXTY (60) in STOCK!! Yet they refuse to sell it as the release date isn't until tomorrow. Yet the employees even know better, but stated the orders are coming from HQ on this one... BULL I SAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! This release date crap is driving me mad. First they don't normally get games until Wed-Fri here, sometimes even 2-3 weeks later for games like Disgaea, Okami, etc, and now they have a game on release day yet refuse to sell it!!?? What the bloody hell is going on here!? Do they hate us gamers that MUCH!?
