Sega Rally Revo shifts to fall 2007

Publisher narrows down date of rally racer to this fall on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC; eight environment types confirmed for final release.

Sega of America today released some new screenshots of the upcoming game Sega Rally Revo, due out for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Tucked away in the press release was also another nugget of info for rally-racing fans: the game's updated release date.

Sega Rally Revo is now scheduled for a fall 2007 release, a push back from its original release date of early 2007, which was given on the game's announcement at 2006's Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Some updated details on the game were also announced today. In addition to the previously known real-time deformation of tracks, the game will include eight environment types based on real-world locations. Car classes will include licensed 4WD, 2WD, and "classic" cars, as well as multiplayer modes that will be available both online and offline.

    Hopefully they'll know a good way to utilize the software and we can get a very high resolution textures without any drop in frame rates.

    I'm really hoping to see more top-tier games come out on these three platforms. The PC library should be buoyed by the commonality in development (XNA) between Windows and XBOX 360.

    Are you stoned? PC has the best and most realistic racing games on the market GTR2, Richard Burns Rally.

    This game is gonna kick ass. I already have Motorsport and its okay, but it hasn't kicked my ass like my Dreamcast Sega Rally 2 did (now that was a sweet racing game!). Hopefully, this one will be just as good if not better!

    Sega? Loyal to Nintendo? Their oldest rival? Hardly. The PS2 and Xbox got a lot more great games from Sega than Nintendo did (original ones, too). Sega will release games for the Wii that they feel are a good match. Sega Rally wouldn't be a good match. In this case, Sega Rally would do better on more powerful hardware since its intended for racing game enthusiasts who will want the better graphics and more realistic physics.

    System loyalty is for chumps. Game companies have to watch their bottom line because they're businesses. Gamers need to be aware of each system's strengths and weaknesses as a platform, and allow themselves to enjoy a good game regardless of what its on (something fanboys can't do).

    I don't get it. Sega used to be so friggin' loyal to Nintendo, but now all of their games are coming out on 360 and PS3...what's up with that?

    Poor Rally. After Motorstorm this game just doesn't have much of a chance. Not to mention, I will, Sega has become more like EA recently in crap releasing department.

    Great news. Remember V rally for the Dreamcast?That was a great rally game as well.The best is probably Rallisport though.

    It's gonna be nice to finally have a rally game on a next gen system, all I can say is that I wish it was Rallisport 3 but this looks really good anyway. Hopefully Microsoft will give us backwords compatibility on Rallisport 2 soon, best racing game of all time, nothing even comes close to the car handeling in that...

    Been waiting and waiting, it keepts getting delayed. Looks like I'll be playing Forza 2 & DIRT CMR Off Road. I'll get this when its older, along with when I get a PS3 and Motorstorm.

    Sweet. I really liked Sega Rally, and its nice to know I won't be penalized for not having the "right system."

    No system deserves to have Sega games exclusively except for Sega systems

    Motorstorm is ok, but the game play gets stale.
