Patrick Stewart voicing FFXII ads

Star Trek veteran to provide the voice-over for the British and Australian ad campaigns.

The voice of Patrick Stewart, the British actor best known as Star Trek's Captain Jean-Luc Picard, will be used as part of the marketing campaign to promote Final Fantasy XII's PAL territories launch. The role-playing game, the latest in the popular Final Fantasy series, will launch in Europe and Australia on February 23, with the ad campaigns beginning on February 19. As part of the marketing push, there will also be a midnight launch event in HMV on London's Oxford Street. The executive producer and director of the game, Akitoshi Kawazu and Hiroshi Minagawa, respectively, will both be present at the event to sign games and answer questions. There will also be free goodies for people wearing the best Final Fantasy costumes, and the first 100 people to buy the game will receive limited edition Moogles and soundtracks.

I liked FFXII, but it lacked something compared to the previous installments. I can't really figure it out.

His voice sounded more kick ass in Oblivion as a character.

    Posted Feb 17, 2007 6:34 am PT

I think his voice should suit the kind of adventurous and deep storyline that final fantasy represents.

yeah..... I'm a big star terk dork.... but I just don't see anything exciting about Patrick Stewart voicing a FF ad, their all hype "it was 4 years in the making, billions of dollors spent, and it couldn't fit in a single motion picture, Final Fantasy 7." That's how all the FF ads have been. If he was like replacing some of those voice actors whom mispronounce the word "Marquis." Then I'd say that would be for the better.

Having lived on the road where Patrick Stewart was born for ten years (yes, seriously), I actually have links to this.

I still live in his hometown and support the same football team as him as well.

i really have had enough of all those american accent in games so things like ff12 and to a less then satisfying dragon quest 8 (though this had the typical pub english). Were a welcome.

hmmm. maybe this'll educate people some 'real' english...and, and when square-enix re-release it as an international version to the japanese lot with subtitles, of course. It may even...lets just say the implications could be far reaching.

I recall my english teacher on one occasion telling me that there is and should only be one english and that is the real/british english. All others are inaccurate and false in one way or another...that was some 30 years ago. These days we're all used to reading all those other versions due to the internet of course.............i'll leave it at that.

I repeat, FF12 is fantastic in the voice acting etc. one might actually pick up a thing or two - possibly.
