Clover vets reunite, form Seeds

Hideki Kamiya, Atsushi Inaba, and Shinji Mikami resurface with new game development studio.

Shortly after Capcom announced the dismantling of Okami developer Clover last year, it was revealed that two of the studio's big names--Viewtiful Joe producer Atsushi Inaba and Devil May Cry director Hideki Kamiya--had already left the company in search of "fresh challenges."

They appear to have found one, as the pair are listed on the Japanese language site for upstart developer Seeds, along with fellow Clover veteran and Resident Evil creator, Shinji Mikami. While Kamiya and Inaba had left Capcom entirely, Mikami last year was still working for Capcom as a contracted producer.

According to Seeds' Web site, the studio was formed in August of last year with Inaba as president, and has so far grown to employ 51 people. The group is even looking to expand more, with the site hosting a call for producers and creative talent.

"We are a group of creators who have already created colorful products," the site reads. "Now, standing on new ground, and even as the soil has changed, our passion to pursue new play [fun] hasn't changed. We are challenging ourselves on a global scale to create entertainment products with a new, fresh feeling. We need more seeds."

Clover Studios is expected to be officially dissolved next month. Remaining staff has recently been working on the PAL versions of Okami and God Hand.

Thank goodness, I couldn't bare the thought of Clover being dead. With such great series like Viewtiful Joe, I can't wait to see what they have is store for us.

*hopes for Viewtiful Joe for the Wii. XD*

Crapcom's biggest mistake was to dismantle them. They were the only group of game developers in Capcom's roster who actually cared about making decent games.

Thank goodness Clover is back from the dead. Heck, now that they're on their own, maybe they'll be able to make videogames the way they want to without pressure from marketing "experts".

"I hope they bomb. Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, God Hand, and Viewtiful Joe are all crap games in my book. Okami was pretty awesome but it was an uninspired clone of zelda. Maybe if they make something worth a crap I will root for them."

Try a little harder to bait people, please.

Sweet. Three of the most talented individuals in the business reunite to what probably will be a kickass studios. Bring out God Hand 2 and Okami 2 and other awesome original titles.

I think if they can get some funding from somewhere they could make some brilliant games. Capcom was just holding their creativity back, now they have no limits, the obvious except financial ones.

I agree with Dark_Knight6. It was already a dumb idea for Capcom to dissolve Clover in the first place. This may make them regret it even more.

Okami was on par, if not better than any Zelda game. Im surprised clover was disbanded, but i have very high hopes for Seeds. Theres alot of good talent and so should produce some top quaility original games

"I can't wait to see what kind of incredible, innovative game they will release that nobody will buy because they already spent their money on Madden, Ford vs. Chevy 3, and whatever homoerotic WWE game happens to release around the same time."

-Trob-, that is not the reason why Capcom had to disband Clover. This article here explains why:

    http://www.gamespot.com/news/6159721.html

The reason why Seeds was made in August is probably because Capcom disbanded Clover a couple months before, and by the time it was revealed they did, Clover was all ready disbanded and Seeds was all ready created(but not announced till the 14th).

I don't really get how this is good news. I'm not trying to be mean, these guys seriously create some awesome games, but it sound's like they're kinda being losers in this case.-
It sounded in the article like they had left and created "Seeds" about a year ago in August, and that is the reason that Capcom disbanded "Clover". If that's the case, then they're kinda jerks to Capcom and Clover, but if I'm wrong (I really hope I am) PLEASE correct me.

Reminds me of when the original SNK got taken over by a pachinko company and they all quit and worked with capcom for a while before making a comeback (SNK/Playmore). Good to see the true brains behind these companies setting up there own shops(Mistwalker for ex.). Notice how Nintendo keeps promoting Miyamoto further up the ranks as they dont want to lose him hehehe. Way to go Seeds!
