AGC = GDC Austin

CMP renames the recently purchased Austin Game Conference Austin; new People's Choice track of sessions announced.

The CMP Game Group today unveiled a new name for its recent acquisition, the Austin Game Conference. While CMP isn't changing the previously announced dates and venue for the 2007 edition of the Texas-based conference (September 5 to 7 at the Austin Convention Center), it is bringing the name in line with its Game Developers Conference brand.

This year's show will be called the Austin Game Developers Conference, or Austin GDC for short. While it will still contain programs dedicated to online games, audio for games, and writing for games, the CMP Game Group is adding a new People's Choice track to the event, featuring session topics submitted by community members.

More details about the conference and registration information will be made available next month.

    Two days, and you still haven't fixed the tagline. GS editors, FTW! And on a related note: I hope to see all of you Austin-area people at this! I know I'll be there (if I can afford it)!

    I care. I think I went the second annual AGC and it was pretty fun.

    I haven't been since, but I'd like to go back. Shame that they only focus on online games and audio/writing for games.

    yea, many of y'all don't really care but Austin is a huge gaming city. It's one of the major industries here. I live in in Austin and plan to go to this convention.
