Zorro to leave his mark on Wii

Masked man being brought to Nintendo's latest console by Pronto Games; Destiny of Zorro due for Christmas release.

A news post on the Web site of Zorro Productions has revealed that a Wii game based on the masked defender of justice is on track for release later this year.

While the company didn't reveal much about The Destiny of Zorro, it did say it was being developed by Pronto Games. Pronto's previous games include Dungeons & Dragons Eye of the Beholder for the Game Boy Advance and National Treasure Puzzle Quest for mobile phones.

According to the site, Pronto's approach to game design is to make it fast, fun, and small. For Zorro specifically, the studio is looking for something instantly engaging. It claims, "The game is easy to understand, with challenges for casual gamers but with an interest level that will attract hard core gamers, too."

Good premise but it will be very easy for this one to fall through. Its either going to be a 10/10 or a 2/10 there won't be much middle ground for this title.

Interesting. The use of the Wiimote will be critical in this game.

I really couldn't care less about a game about El Zorro.
    This game will suck. Period.

All I want is for them to impliment a motion-sensitive sword that actually follows your swings... Basically, what Red Steel was supposed to have.

    Nice idea.
But surely this is going to be a simple whip/sword hack and slash affair. If they get the controls right, it could be a nice novelty. If not, just a mindless slasher.

Seems like this could be a pretty good game. The Wii remote is perfect for mimicing the use of a whip. Lots of potential... let's hope they deliver.

BORING!!! Zorro sucks! Especially s a video game! The Wii is the only thing that'll save it because you'll get to use the Wiimote as a sword.

If you never saw "zorro, the gay blade", you should. I don't care who you are. It's a HILARIOUS movie with great comedic acting by george hamilton and a much needed spoof to the entire zorro legend. I'm sure the game won't have much to do with the farce, but GameSpot picture selector people have some good ideas and found funny, real pics to go with the game.

Lol, Zorro the gay blade!!! "Are you good with a sword?" said Zorro. "No, but I'm pretty good with a whip" answered Zorro's gay brother. Classic flick, classic.

Good idea, but since it's a liscenced game, it's probably gonna suck.

  • mpoulin

    Posted Feb 4, 2007 2:23 pm PT

This will probably suck. Too bad though, I bet you could do interesting things with the Wii mote as Zorro's sword.

  • Guitara

    Posted Feb 4, 2007 12:32 pm PT

The game probably will be done fast (Q4 2007 release)...but that's because it will be simplistic and short, not due to a sucky development team.

  • Guitara

    Posted Feb 4, 2007 12:28 pm PT

Clearly, when they say "Fast, fun, and small"..."fast" is talking about the action, not the development process. Like the puzzle game they made or whatever (or something like contra if you need the comparison), fast paced, fun, and small...fast doesn't mean that they're going to crap it out in less than a year. The game will probably still suck, but so do the comprehension skills of some of the people reading this article.

They're clearing making the game based on the fact you can do that "Z" thing with his sword.

    Thus? We're in Bullsh*t town!

Actually, Gay Blade' means exactly what you think it does. "Zorro, the Gay Blade" was a comedy in which Zorro is badly hurt, so he gets his gay twin brother Ramon to stand in for him while he recovers.

Look it up on Wikipedia if you don't believe me.
