Ubisoft spills beans on Blazing Angels Secret Missions

Publisher's Xbox 360 flight-combat follow-up puts players in the cockpits and crosshairs of experimental aircraft.

For a game about secret aircraft flying secret missions, Ubisoft hasn't exactly kept a tight lid on the existence of Blazing Angels Secret Missions. The World War II flight-combat game first surfaced on retailer Web sites earlier this month and was then included on a list of Ubisoft's first-quarter releases in a financial report last week.

However, the publisher did keep specific details about the game from slipping out. Today it pulled the wraps off the Blazing Angels follow-up, which is headed for the Xbox 360 and PC. The game puts players in the role of a skilled pilot in World War II who must fly experimental aircraft on classified missions around the world. However, like attracts like, so players will have to shoot down equally experimental German aircraft, with the end goal being to thwart the Third Reich's attempts to build a secret weapon.

In addition to a new story, weapons, and a visual overhaul, Ubisoft is adding a pair of extra multiplayer modes to the game. Secret Missions will include a large-scale Epic Battle option and a capture-the-flag mode for team play.

Blazing Angels Secret Missions is set for release this spring.

Well, I just hope that the graphics can be a lot more better then the Squadrons of WWII. Because those graphics on Squadrons of WWII looked more like Xbox graphics.

Ubisoft is making a sequel because it's easy for companies like Ubisoft to make a half-arse game, and convince all the morons to continue to buy these crap games, such as Blazing Angels...

I have high hopes for this game, i really need a good flight simulator, and hopefully this could be it. Especially since it will be encorporated with World War II, so high hopes, hopefully it will deliver.

Didn't really care for the 1st one. What the 360 needs is a new Crimson Skies game.

If the original wasn't sold at a knock down price and as part of 'buy one get one free' offers,I doubt anyone would have seriously considered buying it.

Where's a XBL DL demo? Otherwise, this is nothing but a rental after I demo'd the first one and didnt' buy it. And i third Gamepro's idea... can we get a Crimson Skys 2 at least?!

The next aircraft game for the 360 that gets it right will be the first. The first Blazing Angels game stunk and Over G was an outright theft of $60. Microsoft needs to somehow make sure they get the Ace Combat series on the 360 when the next game is released.

It was OK, nothing spectacular, but hardly a waste of bandwidth, either. Good, simple fun. This next one has potential. I have a feeling when more PS3s make it into homes (instead of sitting on store shelves), Ubisoft will announce a version for that console.
