COD3 maps back on front line

Valor Map Pack for Xbox 360 fixed and battle-ready; new game patch fixes previously broken map pack, two multiplayer issues.

When Activision sent out some new reinforcements for the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty 3 in the form of the Valor Map Pack, many battle-weary gamers rejoiced. However, the quintet of maps was immediately killed in action, because the content was unplayable.

Publisher Activision and developer Treyarch have announced on the Call of Duty Web site that the Valor Map Pack is now ready for action and can be downloaded from Xbox Live Marketplace. The Valor Map Pack, which includes five multiplayer maps, costs gamers 800 Microsoft points ($10).

The companies have also released a new update for the game, which makes bugged versions of the new content playable. Activision says that those who downloaded the broken version of the Valor Map Pack, but for whatever reason deleted it, are entitled to download the new version for free, but the company did not go into details on how to do that.

The patch also addresses two issues dealing with the game's multiplayer: ranked lobbies and ranked matches.

Call of Duty 3 is rated T for Teen and retails for $59.99. For more information, read GameSpot's review.

New maps are good, they are pretty amazing, but what about Canadian, and British weapons ...... in MULTIPLAYER!!!??? Why aren't they making maps that has British and Canadian Weapons!!! And Please make a freaking PRE-GAME lobby!!!! ... I dont know whats wrong with this developing team. Pre-Game Lobby is so last generation...but NOOO.. why would they!!! ....

I was getting really bored with the single player aspect of this game, so I tried the online for a bit...

I died a few times, but when getting into the WAR matches (where you have to stay at the flag to capture the position, then move on)... it is absolutely fantastic!
Multiplayer is great on this. Its really smooth, hardly any lag, and 24 players! (any more players will be a bit chaotic, and not fun if you ask me).

The weapons and spawning system is well balanced. And with a decent group of players, a simple game of capture the flag (WAR) can last up to an hour and end with a draw!

When the ps3 comes out with its online, worldwide, lets see who is being ripped off then, if you think about it, that bluray disc will be going to waste if the maps cant fill that 50gb up!. $10 for a bunch of maps is great, but seriously you would only want this if you played online to death - the current maps are fantastic as it is.
So $10 for a hardcore nerd who plays this to death is a steal...

The new maps are pretty good and the MP is at least working great now. AS for the 10 bucks that is steep esp when I used to play on my PC there were new maps created everyday. I dropped the dime for them and its worth it if you put a lot of hours into the game and your not heading for anyhting new in the next few weeks

I agree with PieStalker about how we bought the game already, it should include the new maps that are out for it. Paying 60 bucks wasn't enough?
Any new maps should be free if anything.

They've been charging for downloaded content for three years now, this nothing new...however the prices are going up and Ubisoft was really good to us for not charging us for all of the Tom Clancy Ghost Recon stuff until now so that was a let down but I feel that 400-600 points for "actual extra content" is worthwhile --message to EA!

Even though I think it is BS that they are charging maps at that price I am glad that they fixed having to wait for so long to play ranked matches. Once I get the Seriously achievement on GOW I will finally go for my General achievement on this game.

Agreed 10 bucks is far yo much to play for some new maps that SHOULD have been included in the original game, but dont worry about it too much guys as soon as Sony decides to join the compition everything on xbl will go way down in price. Not many people are this stuped to spen ten bucks for 5 map but for those who are give it like 1 month and we will get these for half price or maybe even free.... well not free cause we are dealing with M$

I for one will not be paying to download this or any further content from Live. Microsoft did you forget you charge us a fee just for the "privledge" of playing on your service. You could at least throw us a bone once in a while instead of giving your publishers a carte' blance to bilk us for every penny. A little for a theme, a little for a couple of gamer pictures, alot for maps that come out a few months after a games release, just to pad your wallets. Well no more from this gamer. If not for the number of games I own, I would already be joing the sony camp.

Yeah give us it free then, seen as we have all been playing a broken game for several months now!! BTW they have sorted a lot of the problems now and IMO this is the best online game available for 360

I still haven't played much COD3, i let my friend borrow it a while back and haven't gotten it back yet. I've played some local split screen multiplayer with some of my boys, but i have'n quite got into the game like i would have liked to yet. Speaking of which i need to go get it back so i can get into the game some more, get a better assesment as to how good it really is.

The maps are actually worth it. Coupled with the free map "Champs", it's like paying 2 bucks per map, which is nothing.

I like the maps as I finaly got my mom/dad to let me DL them. I have to say for 10 bucks it's not bad at all. lots of choke points and combat that the game was realy lacking from the PC versions was added back into the game in these maps. I loved every minute and can't wait to see what they do next!

Still can't boot players!?! Still a dumb count down in custom matches!?! I think someone needs their hand held when it comes to online multi. CoD2 shipped a mess and CoD3 lacks sooooo many needed functions.

These maps were available Saturday night. They are amazing. Can't wait to snipe all of you on-line. Keep up the good work Activision. I just hope the next update allows the host to boot players. Some people just like to ruin other people's game by team killing.

I had the same problem for awhile. You have to wait awhile (30 second to a minute) before a game gets put together because most people are playing unranked games. Create a ranked match and wait and people will fill up the empty slots.

this wasn't a bad game to begin with but it just doesnt compare to GOW or Rainbow Six Vegas so it doesn't really matter what they do to fix it. plus i still think 800 points for a few maps is WAY too much. this stugh is suppsed to be MICROtransactions.
