Tamagotchis party on Wii

Namco Bandai prepping Wii game based on its popular digital pets; four-player party game to hatch in retail this spring.

As the Wii continues to sell out around the world, game publishers are getting over any trepidation they may have had in publishing games for the new system. The latest to announce a new title for the console is Namco Bandai, who today revealed that a game based on its Tamagotchi license is in the works.

Tamagotchi Party On! is currently on schedule for release in North America this spring. The party game features multiplayer support for up to four gamers, and takes full advantage of the Wii's motion-sensitive controller.

Players will engage in 15 different minigames, each of them requiring participants to "swing, shake, point, turn, and twist" their Wii Remotes. As gamers progress, they can spend earned Gotchi points to upgrade their characters and customize their very own campaign headquarters as they try to become president of Tamagotchi planet.

Tamagotchi Party On! has not yet been rated or priced.

If the Nintendo Wii was designed to expand the base of gaming to include casual gamers, then we have to expect to see a preponderance of casual games.

My guess is that the hardcore games are still in development. Not only will they take longer to create, but they were probably sat upon by companies who decided to wait and see how the Wii was received before committing resources to it.

the problem is, none of the companies other than nintendo seem to be taking the wii seriously enough to actually spend time on a game. they're just rushing crap out over and over. i can't wait for resident evil...

    Whyyyyy????

    All those development costs...
    all that development time...

Why didn't they just spend it on an actual GAME...
if I want to take care of little creatures while playing braindead games with them,

It would make good use of the Wiimote, but it looks stupid. No way in hell am I spending $50 to play with an alien, that used to be a mini pocket game, that I could get for $10.

Another Mario Party style game for the Wii, joining Monkeyball, Rayman, Warioware, Wii Sports, and eventually Mario Party itself.

Okay I guess. But they need to be innovative and try to think of new minigames that havent been done seven or a million times before.

I wonder why they're making these dumb "job simulator" and "party"-themed Tamagotchi games instead of making an actual Tamagotchi game. Though I'm 22, I'd at least think about getting a 3D one where you actually get to raise those things on a Wii or DS. But not no dumb party game or a game where the Tamagotchi's get jobs.

Wow, talking about old things. I had a tamagotchi when I was 8 and it was fun, but the Digimon game on the PSO was the same but in 3D and was better. If this has online, it may be good.

I agree with Nintendo_Man that this game will sell well in Japan, simply for the fact that Tamagotchi is big over there. But I mean, come on. 15 minigames? That's it? No doubt they're going to charge full price, too. Sorry, but I would never buy this game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Tamagotchi on the DS sell like a bazillion copies in Japan? I'm pretty sure well over a million. Clearly some people here consider 1 million copies a failure...

"Damn it, give us a game where we actually RAISE Tamagotchis! "

I agree... Would love a nice next-gen Tama game

    "Tamagotchi on DS = failure
Tamagotchi 2 on DS = failure
Tamagotchi on Wii = failure "

I wouldnt exactly say that. While the first Tama on DS caught my eye, it didnt sell me... However, part of the reason I just got a DS a few days ago, was Tama2 for DS... I figured I would give it a shot, as I like Tama that much lol... It may not be the largest hit, but there is still a pretty hardcore following of Tamagotchi, still to this day lol...

It's all mini-games and kids games.

I have only three games for my wii nintendo, one is amazing(zelda) but i have played it to death, the second is fun but only with friends(wii sports) and the third is terrible(red steel) but there was nothing else i wanted.

Now im back to playing 360 and i do not know when the next game i will enjoy is coming out, wario-ware is out but its just another game to play on the weekend with friends.

I want some great single players games and possibly some online multi-player.

I remember nintendo saying there would be plenty of games for the hardcore gamer but i only see one available, and mario is supposedly not coming out till dec.

i hope something comes out soon as my wii is just collecting dust i have even turned off the wii24 connect because theres never any goodies to check out in the morning like nintendo said.
