Free COD3 map hits XBL

Call of Duty 3 soldiers can now download the Champs map free of charge from Xbox Live Marketplace.

Apparently, it's free map week on Xbox Live Marketplace for top-selling Xbox 360 games. Yesterday, Microsoft and Epic Games released two new multiplayer maps for Gears of War, the Xbox 360's holiday hit.

Today, a free bonus map for another top-seller made its way to Xbox Live Marketplace. Activision has released the first multiplayer map for Call of Duty 3. The map, titled Champs, is set in a French farm town and is designed for small and medium-sized teams.

Activision is also releasing a premium COD3 map pack, the Valor Pack, which contains five more battlegrounds. The valor pack has not been given a release date and will cost gamers 800 Marketplace points ($10).

And where are the PS3 maps?

wow, why does everyone say that the game doesn't work? WTH, it works fine, it's your internet that's too slow, or bogged down by downloads. Learn something about technology and then try to play the game.

Do not get me wrong GoW is one of my favourite games for the xbox 360 right now and probably one of the best technology wise. BUT, the game is also probably one of the buggiest games for the 360. Gamers who own this game know what im talking about. Even the patch didn't seem to fix the bugs, just added some features. Ive also played CoD3 and it is not half as buggy as GoW. -__- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
you dont know what you are saying, COD3 is incredibly glitchy compared to GOW, I duck in COD3 and my player slides around on the floor and you get stuck in walls and what not ,read the gamespot review they talk all about it and GOW does not have any noticeable glitches

Don't fall for the bull crap you payed $59.95 for a game, this was included with that price. They just held back so they can trick you into thinking they are good guys, they factored it in long ago . GOW is over rated try playing FEAR on or off line now thats a game

Good stuff but on Xbox Live,we're to busy playing Gears of War!!!By the way,the only bug I've seen on Gears of War is that some times,if you try to shoot as upwards as you can while in cover, the bullets blast in the air.But that's minorr,no1's going to shoot at the cieling, especially not in cover...

Can't wait for the REAL CoD3 made by the real makers of the original CoD2 for PC and Xbox 360, Infinity Ward. Treyarch made 'Big Red Anal Rocket' Cod2 that sucked balls and was a bad ripoff of MoH in gameplay. The CoD2 exp. pack for PC that infinity ward is brewing will blow CoD3 by Treyarch to hell."

Man, you're so confusing! Infinity Ward will not be making a COD3 for the PC. Activision has always said that it's for the consoles. Plus, Infinity Ward is working on a supposedly new COD game (perhaps included for the PC, too). So they're really not working on an expansion to COD2, coz that'd be damn old! The Big Red One game for the last-gen consoles made by Treyarch is not the same as COD2 for the current-gen consoles. Lol. Sure, it's probably the 2nd COD game in the last-gen consoles, whatever, but I don't care about those games.

For the PC back in the day! when it was CoD1 and the expansion the updates for the game included new maps for free but at a much later time. say 4 months after its release because by then they would have ballanced the game out much more and improved the overall online experience. But now on the consoles this whole system M$ and $ony have setup are just money-whoring systems. Dont take the mario pic to be my support of the Wii or nintendo, but rather remembering the good 'ol days when consoles wars didnt create mindless fanboys and peacekeepers who buy all of the consoles partly to show their deep pockets or their inability to make decisions.

I'm glad that it's a free map. I bought the GRAW pack for crappy maps at a different time of day...Dissapointment

Back to CoD 3, it's pretty sad that they couldn't fix glitches on an add-on map.

i still think the maps should be free, we pay all this money on the console and games which we still have to buy new levels for. they make heaps of many anyway, just give them out for free!!!! GEARS OF WAR DID!

The SP is badly glitched, and while the MP is good, i play Rainbow Six too much to have time left over for COD3.

I found COD2 to be a much better game gameplay-and-story-wise.Though the graphics of COD3 bring it up just enough to have the same value of COD2,I'll give them both an 8.8.I'm attached to Gears of War at the moment so I'll have to take this add-on for granted.

Your full of **** "jizohnrobertson". Call of Duty 3 online is great. It has it's own strong points just like Call of Duty 2 has it's own. Call of Duty 3 is more stiff and difficult to play. Those who suck at CoD games won't like CoD 3, those you can't advance to the new age won't like it either. CoD 2 had only 8 players per game, the maps were small and there were no vehicles. The gameplay in CoD is much more active and the battles are much more intense.

  • jizohnrobertson

    Posted Jan 12, 2007 11:42 am PT

Call of duty 3's online play sucks big time compared to Cod2 online play. The single player campaign suffers too (like the constant respawning of german soldiers after you take them out), although it is a good campaign altogether. Too much like battlefield and the vehicles are a joke. Sure wish that Treyarch did not take over the reigns on this iteration.

hmmmm, I wonder why PS3 hasn't recieved the map. They paid just as much for the same game. Unfair imo.

I survivved for months on call of dutys 2 downloads, they were a little too expensive seeing as the maps were slightly similar and basic, but they were fun. This map is awesome though, adds new elements as looks stunning. We need some epic map packs, like a bridge assault like on americas army, d day etc

No matter what people say about the single player campaign, the multiplayer is far superior to CoD2. The free map is great and I'll gladly pay $10 for 5 more maps. Seeing as how much I play CoD3 online, it's a bargain when I look at price versus time spent.

  • winnerjay

    Posted Jan 12, 2007 7:54 am PT

i still think everyone that says 2 was better is insane. the MP in 3 is so much better. 4 on 4? wtf kinda war is that. and all everyone did was snipe.. i WILL say the maps were better. but there is plenty of time for releases of packs. and this is just the start

  • lobobizarro

    Posted Jan 12, 2007 6:51 am PT

CoD2 was better IMHO. CoD3 I got as rental. It's nice that there are more Free DLC. Hopefully more to come. I can understand paying a bit for 5-10 new maps, but for less than 5 is crazy. So, yay for GoW and CoD3!

I dont know if I like the price tag though, for teh Valor Pack, I think they should charge us $1/Map. 5 map pack 400 MS pts, 10 maps 800 MS pts. I'm not going to buy CoD3, so, it really doesnt matter, but I think the price should be like I said. 800 MS pts for 5 maps I find it iffy.

But, if the gamers buy it, I guess they will keep on charging us for what sells. I'm cool with it anyway.
