Oblivion expansion revealed

Shivering Isles due for release in Spring 2007 will feature new lands, quests, foes, and 30 hours of gameplay.

The first official expansion pack is on its way for the hugely popular The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, report British gaming magazines PC Gamer and PC Zone. The title has already spawned one add-on big enough to be sold on its own in The Knights of the Nine.

Titled The Shivering Isles, the first full Oblivion expansion will add a whole new land to explore. The Isles, which are also known as the Realm of Madness, will be divided into a northern area (Mania) and a Southern area (Dementia). A town called Split on the Mania-Dementia border has two of every citizen, and one of the quests will be to solve this doppelganger mystery.

The Shivering Isles are reachable through a door set in a strange statue and located on a small island that appears in the water in Niben Bay near Bravil. Players will be able to move between Cyrodiil--the realm of the original Oblivion--and the Shivering Isles freely.

The expansion will contain more than 30 hours of new gameplay with branching quest storylines, and the landscape itself will change according to the decisions players make during their adventures. There will also be new creatures, dungeons, and quests. Two of the new monsters include a Gatekeeper, a golem-style creature made up of stitched together body parts, and the Knights of the Order, which are made from tree roots.

Released in November, the boxed PC edition of Knights of the Nine featured a new multipart quest, as well as all of the game's previous pay-per-download updates. The Knights of the Nine was also released on the Xbox 360 as a download available through the Xbox Live Marketplace and will be included in the PlayStation 3 edition of Oblivion when it releases later this year. Neither magazine mentioned whether or not the expansion pack content would be available on other platforms.

A spokesperson for Bethesda Softworks confirmed the expansion's existence but declined to reveal further details at this time.

Who cares if it doesn't come to the 360? You guys are getting Halo 3 early, you can't have EVERYTHING.

Okay, this is very annoying. "I HOPE IT COMES FOR THE 360!.!.!." This deserves the just shut up award. Yeah, I'm excited, Knights of the Nine was a sweet "quest" basically and I hope SI can add on that. But seriously, why would Bethesda screw the 360, it came out for both the PC and 360, so just stop. Geez

Just Wondering But Did Anyone Read Anything The Bethesda Said About Knights Of The Nine ? It Is Not An Expansion, But A Large Plug-In The Shivering Islands Is Too Be The Fist Expansion.

Knights of The Nine was indeed an expansion, but was more of a sample to tide us over until this was ready(At least in my opinion). We can expect this to indeed be a truly interesting expansion if their claims about our actions affecting the world are true.

I received my latest Xbox magazine and it had an interview with Bethesda reps stating on the demo disk that it WILL be on the Xbox 360. That's all I'm concerned about. The screen shots they showed looked awesome. I'll be getting it the moment it becomes available.

This is quite possibly the greatest game I have ever played. I can't ever seem to pull myself away from it. I've logged easily over 7o hours on the game so far and I have barley touched the main quest. Keep all the expansions and new material coming Bethesda, you have a loyal and dedicated follower here.

I love this game, I loved Morrowind before it and I love Oblivion now! I just wish you could design your own houses and own/design your own ships, that would be awesome!

I love this game! but if you look deeply! you'll find the game too boring!
They gotta add something that improves the gameplay! not only new quests and foes and maps... know what I mean!?

Awsome! I'm still playing the Original and still deciding to get Knights of the Nine but this just might make me get both.

Oblivion has great replay value, i have started over twice now and having soo much fun.

Hope they add some decent stuff to this EP.

ok , i think i may wait for a GOTY. I know I want them all , but my 360 is acting up on me, so i'm hesitant to pay for any more downloads that I'll just lose when i inevitably have to replace it.

For now I must play my other games, maybe in the future I will have time to devote to completing Oblivion.

Im sorry but with a game like oblivion who cares if you already have the 1000 points? I'll play this game for years. However I really hope that we can get all content downloadable In one download for like 20 bucks. I paid $70 + tax for collections edition and $20 for the book. Thats like $100 for one game. Of course Oblivion is long enough to make the $100 worth while hehe.

Ronniexie: There probably will be achievements, the Kameo expansion gave a further 200 (?) achievement points, and seeing as this expansion will be sold in a box, I expect it will carry 1000 further gamer points.
