MLB 07 chooses Wright

New York Mets All-Star third baseman selected as cover athlete for Sony's upcoming baseball game, which is due out in early 2007 on the PS3, PS2, PSP.

MLB 07: The Show The Box!

Things are really good for David Wright, the young third baseman for the New York Mets. Playing in a city known for being particularly critical of its pro athletes, the young slugger has become the apple of New York's eye (and the envy of mid-20s males) for his slick fielding, clutch hitting, and charismatic presence.

Wright breaks into a new area today. Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that he will be the cover athlete for the upcoming MLB 07: The Show. The game is due in stores in early 2007 on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable.

Wright is coming off his best season yet, one in which he batted .311, belted 26 dingers, and knocked in 116. His performance earned him his first All-Star appearance, where he started for the National League squad.

    I'm not sure if being a Mets fan and having Wright on the cover is good or bad, but I'm glad people are recognizing Wright's talent on the field, finally.

    For being as young as he is, he is a great baseball player. I think he deserves this and is proud. Although, David Ortiz should be on there!

    D Wright is the man, even though he didn't show up in the playoffs! A great choice for Sony I'm sick of seeing Yankees all over the place nice to see the Metropolitan's getting some recognition

    If you wann play baseball on a console this year and want the best game, well you will have to the The Show on PS3!!!
    Sony proved it last year with The Show '06 when EA lost there liscence.
    Sorry X360 owners, 2K (Kush Games) series sucks and I believe if this years version sucks again, MLBA will drop there liscence and stick exclusively with Sony for baseball for the next years to come! It will be a major blow to Microsoft.

    Even though I'm a Atlanta Braves fan, Wright was awesome this past year. He has a bright career ahead of him. Good going David!

    why is everybody saying the Mets suck? if you say that, you don't watch baseball, because they were one of the best teams last season. David Wright's a good player too

    What about Johan Santana? He's the triple-crown, undisputed best starting pitcher in the majors, AND he plays videogames. I would've loved to see him in the cover of The Show.

    And Wright isn't exactly the best choice, either. He cooled off in the second half of the season and was terrible in the post-season. There are many others that are better suited for the cover.

    I don't understand why people are hating David Wright---he's an up and coming player (hope to be around for a while and continue his great play with glove and bat).

    Bilskie don't be hating. I'm sure Howard it would've cost 989 a heckuva a lot more to get Howard to be on their cover. Then again, considering they got Big Papi the last time around, I guess they could've afforded him. Still, David Wright isn't a bad choice at all. The guy is an awesome athlete, he hits for power, for average and is a human highlight reel at the hot corner. I'm sure the fact that he plays in New York has something to do with his selection too, but that's not his fault. But calling David Wright names don't change the fact that he's on track to become one of the greatest third basemen of all time. There aren't too many third basemen that good (now or ever), on the other hand, first basemen with barely adequate defense and tons of home runs (and little of anything else) have been a dime a dozen over the years.
