Rainbow Six Vegas patched

Auto-update for Ubisoft's Xbox 360 tactical shooter addresses multiplayer issues, including problems when using camera, joining sessions.

Nothing bogs down a multiplayer experience like buggy software. Ubisoft knows this and is doing all it can to fix issues that have arisen with its latest popular Xbox 360 multiplayer game, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas.

Today the publisher released the game's first patch, an auto-update that primarily addresses problems with the multiplayer portion of the game.

Among the fixes to multiplayer are remedies to several crashes in competitive and multiplayer games, better performance when using the Xbox Live Vision camera, improved voice chat support, and, for the achievement junkies, a correction to the Siege Specialist achievement. On the single-player side, the main fix was to the game's voice-recognition system.

The development team has acknowledged that some other problems still exist and that the team is setting out to fix them. For a full list of the patch's changes, head over to Ubisoft's forums.

ubisoft is garbage. they have too many glitches in their games & always charge for downloadable content. they say they fixed the realistic difficulty glitch but it's not. i bet you have to download the new maps for $10 & then it'll be fixed. like i said, ubisoft is garbage!

they made weapons accurate like they should be, but distance can't be changed, they made it so they can all shoot across the map and well yeah the maps are small enough to do that with anything but except the pistol I dont think...

The statistics are wrong though and they need to fix that and when it says the gun has short range well that doesnt stop the bullet at a certain distance.

now if only they would do something about the sniper rifle dmg and accuracy along with the assault rifles. tired of getting sniped with a smg when i have a friggen sniper rifle in a distance battle.

I may be dragging this up, but I frequent this game literally every day. The main multiplayer glitch I have a problem with, is the incindeiry grenade glitch, where it won't count the kills and you're left looking for a terrorist that doesn't exsist. Other than that, the game is well done. Patch away.

Not really, many glitches are so minor that you can overlook them. I've never seen many glitches in 360 games so stop complaining. Patches are a great way to fix any games glitches and shouldn't be trash talked by anyone.

When will they make a 360 game that doesnt need a patch, sure all games have glitchs and bugs but you dont see them to often, like a freak accident in the computer world, yet glitches run rampant on 360 games, they everywhere you look

You would think that Ubisoft would at least fix the single player bug where if you loaded a saved Realistic Difficulty game, it loaded as Regular difficulty.

Lots of issues addressed but alot is still missing. You can't even get the realistic mode achievement yet? I am a little disappointed with this patch.

To those of you complaining about the games needing patches, you obviously have no idea how marketing/sales works. Do you seriously think they can just deliver the games at their own leisure at any time of the year? No, they need to hit the market at a certain time to not only meet contractual agreements, but also to get the most out marketing, and sales. Yes, a lot of games are allowed to push out the drop time, but that is not something that is liked in the industry. It is impossible to be 100% sure how a game will work before it launches since even if the game is on a system like the 360 NOT ALL BOXES PLAY IDENTICALLY. Which explains why some get bricked during updates etc, while others dont. The developers do know about the bugs before a game is released, if it is significant enough to create a bad image for the game, they will postpone otherwise they will patch. Get over it, software has always, and will always be this way.

This seems to be an on-going problem with the Xbox360. Everything needs a patch. How about making a game that works right the first time.

  • Bored1ed

Hows that? The game has its bugs but im sure they'll all be worked out shortly if not already. Ubi is usually pretty good at fixing these things. Thats my opinion.

Anyone that had an original xbox know virtually every single XBL game released got a patch or two after the first couple of weeks, this can't be a suprise to anyone. Besides that broken or not R6 has more replay value than almost any other game out now.

Something you have to realize about software development - the software is NEVER FULLY TESTED - EVER! An example: a relative of mine works for a financial software company that writes software for central banks of countries, with software licenses running in the millions of dollars... and even that incredibly high-cost, premium software has bugs! It's assumed that when you release a product, you're still somewhat in the testing phase. This is why Microsoft is releasing the Halo 3 MP Beta to the public - their focus will be to write the tightest, most playable and consistent network code so we don't have download 10 patches an hour.

Give developers some credit - these games are pushing the limits of current technology!

Don't defend developers because testing is expensive. That is part of the development process. Plus look at many of the bugs we are seeing. Do you really think that the voice issue in R6 or Gears just wasn't noticed? Every game I play in R6 has at least 1 person who cannot hear anyone or a selected group. And pleae, in Gears if anyone jumps in after the hiost starts the first game you can't hear them either. These are inexcusable bugs and are blatant. These companies are releasing this software broken. I love both of these games, but this is poor practice.

  • WillT12345

    Posted Dec 15, 2006 5:37 am PT

Games are getting more and more expensive to make. So I think some of you just need to take a breath and understand that play testing cost alot of money. Now of course they probibly tested the hell out of the game, but to damand that every bug be gone from these very extensive games is a little much. On the other hand, the way CoD3 released there multiplayer was unexceptable, what with the completly boken ranked matches. So I think some companys have abused the online community but I don't belive Ubisoft Mont to be one of them.

Another patch for a game, huh? Looks like devs are releasing bugged games more frequently now that the ps3 and 360 games can be patched. Why is it that they can`t release a game that doesn`t need patching?

This is what happens when you rush a game!
I know they want to make it so that it will make it into Christmas present packages but still... This is sad!
Don't people have QA anymore? I mean really!
People can understand bugs and such creeping in on PC setups but what? on xboxes now?
UBISOFT - this is not good enough!
Put more bloody effort into your products before quickly shoving them onto the shelfs!

I can forgive patches for minor tweaks. But I hope devs don't see this as an excuse to release broken games. PC patches are a disaster. It's not uncommon to see 5-10 patches for one game.

Like on the best & worst 'on the spot', I see this as a very bad trend for consoles.

If companies weren't so worried about getting their games out for the holidays this wouldn't be as big of an issue on consoles. Let's just hope that Post-Release Patching never gets to the level that it's at on the PC.

Damn, I wish it was CoD3 that got patched instead. That game needs it more, and Ubi-Soft should be concerned that their franchise is now 2 for 2 in regards to being broke on launch day.

EDIT: Oops, Activision published CoD3. ::slaps self::
