PC game charts: November 26-December 2

The Sims 2: Pets continues to be a PC game retailer's best friend as EA's virtual life franchise claims four of the top 10 slots for the week.

There's big money to be had in fake lives. Electronic Arts claimed a full half of the top 10 PC games charts for the week of November 26 to December 2--including the top spot--thanks primarily to its lighthearted life-simulating franchise, The Sims.

According to the industry-tracking NPD Group, EA's The Sims 2: Pets expansion pack sold more copies than any other PC game for the week and led a quartet of Sims 2 products into the top 10 chart. The original Sims 2 came in seventh, while the Glamour Life Stuff and Happy Holiday Stuff add-ons landed in fifth and eighth, respectively. EA's fifth and final game in the top 10, the futuristic first-person shooter Battlefield 2142, was the ninth best-selling title for the week.

With Black Friday behind the industry, game retailers saw the average selling prices for a number of its titles return to their previous ranges. Microsoft's deluxe package for Flight Simulator X flew off shelves enough to warrant a fourth place standing in the charts, but the game sold for an average of $66 a pop, compared to the $29 it garnered the week before. Consumers also found Desperate Housewives not as cheap as last week, as the Buena Vista Games offering slid six spots to 10th place as its average selling price jumped from $9 to $16.

I count 2 actual titles on this list: Flight Simulator and Medieval. Throw in Battlefield if you want, but I think its just a rip off mod. I went over this list again, and there are 0 original titles. All the sims are expansions, or a sequel. #3 and #10 are based off TV shows. Microsoft Flight Simulator is the 10th in the series, Medieval is 2nd. WoW is 2 years old. Of all these, only Medieval has any sort of originality at all...

Anyone who buys the sim expansion packs are morons falling for the same trick with the original series. You end up paying so much money for something that has been made before. If they do make a sims 3 i wonder if anyone will be stupid enough to buy it.

I'll admit, I used to play the sims 2, but with all the stuff packs they release that are essentially just extra items you can download and are not worth £10 and the latest expansion pack being a giant piece of c*** I have no intention of getting anymore and feel sick about what this game has become about. I liked Maxis, but this just EA now, anyone who wants to cleanse themselves of vile games they have come to a disc-burning I am holding, first on the bonfire will be Sims 2 Pets, followed by all the stuff packs, then the rest of the series, then anything anyone else wants to cleanse the earth of!

There's so little activity in the PC market that even the slightest increase in the sales of a game is enough to bump it up to the top 10 list. Such a pity, man, such a pity...

This list is blasphemous. Desperate Housewives, Deal or No Deal at #3 wtf. Do people really hate gaming on PCs that much these days and perfer consoles. I must say though the people that don't know how to torrent have to go to the store to buy there games legally are the people that buy these kind of games and if we games don't change developers are just going to stop making good games on PC and just make them for consoles.

I'm getting very tired of seeing The Sims continually dominating PC sales lists all the time. hope that in 2007 the first spot on PC game charts won't be occupied by... The Sims 2: Seasons.

If you are tired, then buy PC games. How long has it been since anybody bought a PC game instead of its console counterpart? How long since you got your expansion packs in shops and not Emule? WOW wins because it can't be pirated, and casuals who couldn't use a Torrent to save their dying children buy their Sims expansions instead of downloading them.

Me? I definitely don't buy everything I play on the PC (nobody does, and I'll challenge anybody to justify the rights to everything in their hard drive), but I get what I like. Damn, I've even bought games I had already played in some other way, including the whole Legacy of Kain series. So I don't feel too god about it, but I don't complain.

Isn't hard to tell that the real PC Gamers are playing Next Gen Consoles or playing WoW getting ready for Burning Crusade. This is the most pathetic PC list i've ever seen. You should be proud America. NOT!!! Whats next for that gay sims crap - adding swimming lessons and calling it an expansion pack. EA makes the biggest pile of crap games i've ever seen.

I'm getting very tired of seeing The Sims continually dominating PC sales lists all the time. I'm getting tired of seeing WoW on the top sales list for the upteenth in a row. Dear god, I can only hope this will end when 2007 kicks off. At least, I'd hope so as there are some promising titles coming out in Q1-Q2 2007.

Wow, I didn't realize how much PC gaming is hurting until I saw this list. I mean, console is what I was raised on (PCs weren't really gaming machines when I started playing, you know) and, more significantly, I have a penchant for playing games while laying down, but still, this is pretty tough to look at.

Furthermore, I'm tired of seeing WoW on here. I'm of tired of seeing the Sims ANYwhere. And I like Howie Mandell a little less every time I see him. And I didn't like him that much to begin with.

Ok now the real geeks are buying games Desperate Housewives and Deal or no Deal. That game show is the sorriest excuse for a game show who would want to play a game of selecting breifcases for fake money(HOW BORING). Wheel of Fortune has way more excitement. Please tell me they got it for the hot girls and not for howie mandel.

This is pretty much the only time I ever see women represented on game sites. Women just don't like killing and violence in games, or at least it's not an attraction for them. That's why the Sims 2 and Desperate Housewives shows up... because they're pretty much all there is out there that appeals to women gamers.
