Two new games invade PS3 store

Number-crunching, rodent-saving games now available on PlayStation Store; Lemmings costs $2.99, Go! Sudoku initially free with $2.99 bonus puzzle packs.

PlayStation 3 owners doing a little online shopping on the PlayStation Store may have noticed a few new items they could put in their cart. Yesterday, the downloadable games Lemmings and Go! Sudoku were made available for purchase online.

Lemmings is a new version of the classic PC game of the same name that pits gamers in charge of leading mindless critters to safety by assigning certain lemmings specific tasks. The PS3 version has more than 50 levels, is single-player only, and features an online leaderboard. Lemmings costs $2.99.

Go! Sudoku brings the popular number-sorting game to the PS3 with animated backgrounds and dynamic music, both of which respond to players' actions. The initial download of the game is free, with extra puzzle packs (sorted by difficulty level) costing $2.99 apiece. Previously, Sony said that approximately 1,000 puzzles would be available for download.

    Lemmings seems to be interesting enough for me to check out but i am really interested in Go! Sudoku because that game seems to definitely be up my alley.

    this is cool but what i would like to see happen is some of the ps1 games to hit ps3 store---abes oddessy and abes exoddus are two for starters--and even heart of darkness--touch of the graphics some and make them smoother--other games is i would like to see soul reaver 1 and 2--the ps1 version was good back in its day but then it was redone for the dreamcast--and not it should be redone here on p s3 store for download..i would gladly pay 10 bucks each for them if they were updated some--then battle arena toshindin could be done over--there are alot of games that can be redone some and sold on the site--the crash bandicoot games and parasite eve and i can go on and on but i think you get what i am saying

    I can't wait to play PS1 classic on the go! Please Sony, hurry up and set up an online store we can access/download from without a PS3, since we Europeans can't even get one till MARCH!

    samurai half life 2 will be released when episode 2 is released. It includes HL2, episode 1 and 2, and a new TFC

    I personally can't wait for the PS1 game downloads to be playable on PS3. Hopefully they will let US gamers taste some Japanese goodness that we never got here such as Tobal No 2! , Asuka 120%, Grand-doll, and Pepsiman!

    well thats grand and all but i would much rather see something like i dunno... the orginal crash bandicoot up for dl because that game was hard as hell but it was challenging. that and i want to see some actual ps1 games maybe some tekken or some tobal no.1

    I have always been a loyal playstation fan but i might get a nintendo wii because of the sony march delay, not just that but i think i would rather buy goldeneye for wii that some little pathetic sudoko game for the PS3

    not that thrilled about online games, they have looked to be lamo lamo so far.... still hooked on Resistance and Call of Duty!

    of coarse 360 has more content. it has been out for a year! you can hate sony (they do have some pretty sh*t products) but you cant hate ps3... this is just the beginning of the console wars so wait a year then see if you can talk sh*t

    how come sony only charges 3 bucks for lemings (which i would defintity buy) but nintendo charges 5 bucks for the very very first mario bros arcade game... wtf? is nintendo thinking

    Well, I am not going to buy a PS3, but I do have to give them credit for releasing some good old-school games at a low price. Lemmings gives you DAYS of entertainment. It is simple to learn but gives you a good challenge while staying fun. People should not bash a game release just because it's old. Especially when it is a fun classic at only $3.

    jedimaster1971, M$ didn't force you? Stop joking yourself. M$ forced you to stick with a last gen format, forced developers not being able to develop on high def. media disk (be HD-DVD or blue ray dvd), forced poeple who did buy their HD-DVD not able to enjoy games with it, and forced those who does have hard drive in their system still endure games that's only developed for those without hard drives, and M$ also forced poeple watching HD movie on old format (no HDMI). Need I say more?

    so how's that blu ray which well end up like beta max, mini disc and umd's working out for you ps3 fan-zombies. at least with the 360 you don't have a format forced on you. oh you don't want a blu-ray player too bad. next gen, uhhh so next gen means no choicefor sony, reminds me of the model A Ford, you could get it any color as long as it was black. oh btw anyone wanna buy a 60gb ps3 pm me. lol

    Everyone was complaining when the XBLA launched saying that there weren't a lot of good games to choose from... I disagreed... I thought the selection was decent and now after being out for a full year the selection is fantastic.. As far as the PS network... it's not as good as XBLA was at launch but honestly... lemmings isn't that bad of a game.. plus my wife loves sudoku.......................................................................................... wait who am I kidding... this sucks....well at least PS3 owners can downlaod PLaystation 1 games to there PSPs...........I feel so left out (feel my sarcasm)

    wow...good job, Sony...useless downloadable "games"...but you know, the 360 and Wii suck just as much as the PS3...PC sucks too...lol...I just hate the whole gaming community right now...hopefully one day, gaming will be what it once was...when it gets better, can someone pry the rock that's on top of me?

    what i love about the ps3 is that people waited another full year to get a ps3 so they can play xbox 360 games on it that dont look as good on the ps3 and every games thats on ps3 thats not on the 360 suck wow great system sonys so cool

    Who cares? There aren't enough of them around for people to buy even if they did want to pay the high retail price.

    Show some love to the PSP owners who already shelled out for their system and get on with allowing people to buy PS1 ports without an overpriced Xbox with a bluray player.

    I own Wii60, but I gotta say, lemmings paintball will probably come to ps3, and you guys will love it too. never played the original lemings though.

    The pricing is reasonable, actually very reasonable. And the pay-for-level option in Sudoku is unique, and quite welcomed, though I`m surprised that Sony doesn`t force you to buy the whole game.
