GRAW 2 debriefed

Sequel to Ubisoft's hit enlisting on Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, PC in spring 2007; battles will take place on both sides of US-Mexico border.

One of the first next-generation games to show off the power of the Xbox 360 was Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. The game was a success in retail and with critics, with the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awarding the title Best Game of the Year at its annual awards in October.

During a recent earnings call, Ubisoft unsurprisingly revealed that a sequel was in the works. But what was surprising was the game's timetable--the company was aiming for a first-quarter 2007 release, just about one year after its predecessor.

GRAW 2

The first trailer of the latest French game about US Special Forces!

Today, Ubisoft narrowed down Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2's worldwide release date to spring 2007 and revealed which platforms it is in development for. The Advanced Warfighter era of Ghost Recon will go for a second tour of duty on the Xbox 360 and PC and will make its debut on both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable.

GRAW 2 takes place in 2014 and follows the events of the original GRAW. Insurgent rebel forces have sent Mexico into a nationwide civil war, which poses a threat to the United States. Scott Mitchell and his fellow Ghosts are called on to neutralize the potential risk to the US and will have to fight on both sides of the border, including in El Paso, Texas, to be successful.

Ubisoft promises that GRAW 2 will include changing weather systems, improved artificial intelligence, an advanced Cross-Com system, and more types of military support, including air strikes from jet fighters. There will also be new weapons and a new soldier class, the medic.

No details of the multiplayer portion of the game were given.

GRAW 2 is being developed by Ubisoft Paris and Red Storm Studios. No rating or pricing information has yet been announced.

    thats a short production cycle.

I would rather they take longer and try their hardest to get it to look as gritty as Gears

They need to overhaul the MP system to fix the disconnect issues and dropouts. Also they should scrap the Truerank system as it's clearly been proven in game after game using it to simply not work. Finally they need a far better single player story, the first was really sub-par.

Personally i'd rather they developed Assassins than this right now, far-far too many 3rd person shooters not to mention FPS's. Viva Pinata was a breath of fresh air for the 360.

Who ever works at Gamespot must hate this game since all they do is rag on it in the captions. Gamespot, you have dissapointed me. I thought you were better and cooler than that.

no zuljinRaynor, GRAW 2 will be the same Uber-buggy-dumbwitted AI that walks into your line of fire or the fire of the enemy type of tactical rail shooter it is. lets pray that GRIN isnt no longer developing let alone useing a subpar game engine that isnt throroughly tested. UBISOFT =turning into EA where they turn out junk for $50.

Should be killing some Iranians or something, not a fake made up enemy.

I think most of you will agree that the single player portion of GRAW was far superior then the multiplayer content. The graphics were better, the actions was more intense with better physics, and special effects. It just seemed like the multiplayer aspect of the game got gimped.

One thing that truly pissed me off was that in the single player portion of the game players could lean against walls to take cover. Why they didn't incorporate this into the mp action is beyond me. Needless to say, and I think most will agree with me when I say, that GRAW 2 must have this feature for the multiplayer.

I think Ubisoft is releasing this game too early. Rainbow Six Vegas just released, and it's doing pretty good. They need to wait until Vegas starts to die a little, then release this. Plus, it would give them a lot more time to fix any bugs, or to make a few major tweaks to the game.

This looks real good, but it looks like GRAW 1.5 to me. I'm not trying to bash on it; I can't wait for it, but it doesn't look like much has changed from the first game.

It's good their making a sequel but I would've liked to see it take place somewhere else because the setting is too similar to the first one.

Graw was a great game, but I would welcome the weather changes. I would also like to see more variety in terms of settings.

Definately one to watch out for though, if its good then it will be getting my money. However, I too have some minor concerns that this is too soon to release a sequel, do a good job Ubisoft !

i played the pc version of GRAW and it was a buggy mess. even at 1.30 patch i cant play the damn thing without crashing, or Freezing in MP. its a shame. and yes i have absolutely every updated driver imaginable. and my system can handle the game quite well. its just a buggy game, at least for some i guess, im one of the unlucky few. its now turned into a $50 coaster.

I wonder if the lack of an XBOX or PS2 version of the game is due to technical limitations (which I suppose is why GRAW on those systems were so poorly reviewed) or if it indicates a shift on the part of publishers away from those older systems.

I think I speak for virtually everyone who played GRAW when I say "GRAW 2... Unf Unf Unf". I don't usually go in for that kind of terse post, but GRAW changed my entire view of tactical shooters, and as some have said, it felt like it needed polish. With a sequel polished as only the good Tom Clancy games can be polished, it's going to be a blast.

yup, runstalker, the graphic superiority of 360 version is way ahead of PC version. PC version was fun too, but when it come to graphic, 360 version totally blew PC into water

    -----------------------------------------
Is that due to the fact that your PC sucked? But I liked the 360 version a little better just due the fast that they did the whole 3rd person and that’s what made that one fun... don’t get me wrong the PC version was great but I the 3rd person view is what sold me on the 360 version...but I guess also what sold me on the 360 version is that it came out before the PC version did and I needed another good game besides Oblivion on my 360 at the time....

I hope they fix the lame-o MP maps and put in ones like the previous GR games. Also, hopefully we're far enough along in the 360's life cycle to eliminate the annoying pop-in so prevalent in G.R.A.W.
