EA conjuring new Harry Potter
Boy wizard returns with Order of the Phoenix; movie tie-in slated for July 2007 release on all three next-gen consoles, select current-gen systems.
When it comes to stirring hysteria among the younger generation, there aren't many properties more potent than the Harry Potter books by author J.K. Rowling. Electronic Arts hopes that some of that magic rubs off next year, as the company has announced the latest game based on the fledgling wizard, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Due to release in conjunction with the Warner Bros. feature film of the same name, Order of the Phoenix will be the first Harry Potter game to appear on next-generation consoles. The Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 will all be bewitched by the game, as will the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, and PC.
The news may not be a surprise to all, as EA previously announced that it was working on a Harry Potter Wii game back in July.
The game will be follow the story featured in the upcoming film and the fifth book in the Harry Potter series of novels. Wannabe wizards will be able to play as Harry, Dumbledore, and Sirius Black as they wander the halls of Hogwarts and other locales featured in the book and film.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, in development at EA UK, has not yet been rated or priced.
