Retail Radar: $100 Xbox 360 rebate

Micro Center stores instituting a triple-digit price break on both versions of Microsoft's next-gen console until December 3.

With only 19 retail locations in the US, Micro Center isn't exactly a fixture in most cities. But with the electronics chain now offering a $100 mail-in rebate for customers who purchase an Xbox 360 at those stores, it might be worth a drive to find one.

According to the retailer's Web site, any customer who purchases an Xbox 360 (premium or core version) between last Sunday, November 12, and December 3, can fill out a form to knock a Benjamin off the price of next-gen admission. The systems are not being sold on the company's Web site at the moment.

Customers must send in the rebate form within 15 days of making their purchases, and rebates are limited to one per product, purchase, name, household, address, or organization. Rebate checks should arrive within 12 weeks. For more information, check out the Micro Center Web site's Rebate Center.

Micro center is the sheiot, if you go a long distance to reach this one of a kind store, make sure u take like a few extra grand with you cause this place is the one stop computer shop, i dont shop anywhere but micro center or on ebay, and thats cause micro center is cheaper than ebay on a few things and allmsot anything they offer rebates on, usually you can buy something from here and resell it on ebay for more (the rebated items and a few other deep pocket discounts). If you dotn have a micro center your town is missin out. Best buy, circuit city, comp usa, lol these places r crap. 50 pack of 16x dvds ive never had problems with EVER for 9.99 and 200 cd CASE LOGIC binders sometimes starting as low as 9.99 sometimes , best buy sells some of the ones I own for around 50 freakin bucks. The rebates arent scams, you get ur rebate in about 6 weeks, I got a few really fast, just if you dont send it in , its your fault. Im getting my 360 here on the 28th, they have a ton for some reason, I feel srry for the dolts in my town that are paying 400 for a premium system. If you dont have a micro center in your town and enjoy the finer technology in life, then by all means go to their site and tell them to being alocation near you (of course I dont think they would waste their time settin up shop in a corn field, so please be from a city if you want a store as good as this near you). also :::tr00pa_26
how about a donate $1 policy.. like when customers buy stuff .."micro center" cuts off $1 from the sales...and then send the total cash by the end of this year to the people of africa whos suffering in a drought in this very days..so atleast they'll have a happy christmas and water too..:::: africans dont worship some cult god as we do, they probably worship some gian tbush spider that eats half their people. Yeah and any civilization that has spent the last few thosand years playing in dirt and smoking the corns off their feet to get high and not building houses, schools, ect,, want to be poor and stupid, so please dont insult them with your dollar bills, but i gladly accept your donations

The argument that the XBOX 360 is more expensive than a PlayStation 3 is stupid. It's like saying that a Ford is more expensive than a Cadillac once I've added all the options, amenities, and conversions to make the Ford better.

The point is that I don't have to make the Ford better. It will roll off the lot just as well as the Cadillac and get me down the road.

Nobody with an XBOX 360 has to buy an HD-DVD drive, a Wi-Fi adapter or a bigger hard drive. If you want extras, go for it. But that $299 core system will runs games as soon as you pop it out of the box.

If you want the Cadillac, enjoy the comfy ride. But stop trying to make the Ford drivers feel like they don't deserve to be on the same road.

Ok went to the store, they are legit but be carefull and make sure to do the rebate correctly, they will use anything as an excuse to throw away your rebate and stop you from getting money...I'm really temped to get one though...

ok guys heres the deal. 360= 300+ game60+ xbxlive60= 420! thats pretty good!!!! Ps3 u can buy all of this but for $600+ game 70=670 thats alot just for stuff u dont even need. especially the people with out an hd tv.if u want a hddvd player then buy one! if u dont then dont! sony fan boys have the worst comebacks on this topic, and a lot of the others! u guys all ways include something, some one might not want. MS is more open to the public. if u want it then buy it. sony isn't that way. if u dont want it. ur going to have to pay for it any way. and thats not cool. its like sony is a communist and MS is democratic. long live the 360

God, stop using this damn argument already. If you don't want an Xbox 360, then that's fine, but stop trying to come up with half baked ways to justify your choice.

I'm going to Mirco Center today to check it out, I've read some bad news on their rebates and that they make it so hard to submit the rebate correctly that most of the time you don't get it back. But heck why not try right? If I find out more I'll post a new comment=)

ok .. but for that $800 you've got 3 HDD , 2 DVD drives I hate this the Ps3 runs more CPU cores than the 360 your not saying mod your machine to inclue extra CPU's .. but you mush mention that to get 60gb of HD space you've got to spend $200 .. well what happens when Ms bring out a 100 gb drive .. are you going to include in the cost of the PS3 Modding the console and replacing the internal HDD ??

just accept it the PS3 is expensive I don't hear people saying the Wii really costs $1500 because you've got to buy 30 2gb SD cards and a seperate Blue Ray drive maybe say compare the PS3 'basic' with the 360 premium or something.

  • SavoyPrime

    Posted Nov 15, 2006 5:23 am PT

Wow! That's one hell of an incentive to get people to shop at your store. If I didn't already have a 360, I would probably check into this.

Ehh... Micro Center sucks. All this week, Target offers a $50 gift card with the purchase of a premium 360. That's pretty much like getting a free game. And you don't have to wait for the rebate either.

How about a core system at $199 or premium at $299? Now that is a fantastic deal. That makes the core system (which offers an HD experience) even less than the Wii (without an HD experience).
