MTV upgrades to Gamer's Week 2.0
Cable network's second annual celebration of all things gaming is set for next week; six-day promotion leads into weekend releases of PS3, Wii.
Last November, cable network MTV ran "GameORZ Week," a weeklong stretch of game-themed programming tied to Microsoft's launch of the Xbox 360. With the PlayStation 3 and Wii launching on November 17 and November 19, respectively, MTV decided a second such week would be twice as nice.
MTV today announced the spell-checked sequel to GameORZ Week, Gamer's Week 2.0. Set to air across all of the network's properties (MTV, MTV2, mtvU, game matchmaking and chat utility Xfire, and Web sites games.mtv.com and GameTrailers), Gamer's Week 2.0 will run November 13 through November 18, with game-themed programming saturating each day.
Highlights include the premiere of Gears of War: The Race to Launch, a documentary about the final stretch of Microsoft Game Studio's Xbox 360 shooter from the Electronic Entertainment Expo to its release this week, and The Empire Arcadia, a reality series about a group of "arcade hustlers" from the South Bronx. There's also The Real Price of Virtual Gold, a documentary on gold farming in World of Warcraft featuring exclusive footage shot in China for MTV News.
