PS3 lines already spotted

Nine days before the new console goes on sale, a few determined gamers have already decamped outside a Burbank, California, retailer.

Americans are already getting in line for the PlayStation 3--nine days before its official November 17 release date. Seven people have been spotted camping out at Best Buy in Burbank, California, and date-stamped photos were posted as proof on various gaming forums including Cheap Ass Gamer.

Reports of other lines have also surfaced, bringing back memories of the queues outside movie theatres some six weeks before the Star Wars prequels came out. A "target" of 400,000 PS3 consoles will be available on the launch date in North America, with many no doubt already reserved by those who managed to put in a preorder.

Poster OneWingedAngel wrote that he had been at Best Buy for a job interview when he saw the hardcore campers outside. "The awesome thing was, as I was waiting outside, I saw a bunch of people coming to Best Buy and picking up Gears of War," he wrote. "A few people made some funny remarks. One guy is like, 'I hope you guys brought enough food!' Another one said, 'Where is the line for PS4? Is it on the other side?'"

    They must be payed by the hour. Anyone with a job or a career would just wait a few weeks or a month instead of standing in line for days on end...

    Well this article is misleading.....They're ln line for the WII! I'm in line for it. But i'm in Canada... The Wii is WAY more original. The PS3 IS THE SAME! Just better support.....Why o why do people still have faith in the dyeing company SONY?

    Well it's a PS3 . Maybe a little extreme, i've heard about far worse. Most likely going to sell it on Ebay , or they truly are "Hardcore Fans".

    Everyone needs to stop Hating other consoles. The only reason people hate other consoles in the first place is because they can't afford to have each one. So they are forced to choose one , then therefor opt for their console to be the leader of the pack.

    Star apreciating. Every console released pushes gaming to the next level , and every console has something new to it. Just respect the fact that we are given so much choice. And why people mention how bad the PS2 was i have no idea. XBOX and 360 have plenty of bugs too. ALL new consoles tend to crash alot etc etc...

    I can't wait till each of the consoles are pushed to their limits, along way off till that.

    if i was still in skool, n it was in the middle of vacations,n all my gud frnds were ready,i guess it wud be fun to hang around n fake camp n then get a ps3 out of it, bt these guys are jst weird

    The Ps3 is much better than that Wii, yes...THAT. The PS3 has more features, has Blu-Ray discs which memory is up to(i think) 25 GB, yes more features...lot. It still has the Sixaxis, which is beter than the new Nintendo control and it's games have better graphics and the Wii hold up to 512 MB while the PS3 has 60 GB. Imagine it with an extra hard drive. The PS3 maybe it's not going to win, but it should deserve the victory over other consoles. The Wii and the Xbox 360 are great, but they have inferiorness over the PS3.

    These people are just sad. We all know how crappy Sony products are initially. I waited almost two years before buying my PS2, (not that I had a choice for over a year because they were all sold out), and mine still had bugs, even though it was a way later version. Haven't you guys heard about those guys that dropped consoles off rooftops to see which was the toughest? PS2s pretty much shattered, while the others stayed mostly intact, the gamecube even turned on! It's gonna take them a while to fix the multitude of defects and bugs. I would wait five minutes for a free PS3, but I'm probably gonna wait several months to years before even considering buying one, for the aformentioned reasons. By then the questions of how good the game library is, if they've worked out the bugs, and so forth will be answered. Nintendo, on the other hand, has quite a knack for top quality products right off the bat. None of this is gonna matter if either console is just plain bad. I'm thinking the 360 and Wii are gonna sell way better than the PS3 this holiday season. Although I myself probably won't get any new consoles, and since I already have a 360, I'll probably just buy new games. One day I'll have all three, so who cares? Oh yeah, those guys still losers.

    I was watching Attack of the Show on G4 sometime last week when they first started getting in line, and they were there interviewing them and one guy had like a blanket and chairs and a tv and everything... and he wasn't even getting it for himself! he was gonna put it up on Ebay. and then one of the other guys that was there, when asked "Are you going to get a Wii?", replied "What's a Wii?" I was thinking 'wow, how do u NOT know that.' Anyway, they're F***ing crazy and have no lives.

    That has got to be the saddest thing I have ever heard....EVER. Hopefully Best Buy has some of that Lysol when these losers go into the store. it be unny if there were not enough systems for the ones in line >=).

    I have one word for the poor saps standing line already for a PS3. LOSSERS!!! This is someone who must have been paid by SONY to stand out there early. To build Hype for the PS3. Nintendo doesn't have to pull stunts like this. I will say this now; the Wii will out sell the PS3 for the holidays with the 360 coming out on top! JUST WAIT AND SEE!

    Amazing... can't even count the number of people saying: sick, insane, mad, crazy, no life and so on, about the people who chose to camp, even a week before, to get a ps3. People, this is they're choice, they are willing to spend a week outside to get a gaming console they want for whatever reason. Yes, they do have lives, and those lives involve spending a week for ps3.

    At the moment i'm waiting for Burning Crusade(yes i'm a bad liar, but MMOrpg are the best games ever). I'm up to wait for 2 days max for a PS3 just because I can sell it on ebay for 3x or 4x its price(even more, some ppl want to sell their soul for a PS3).

    Yeah, its stupid. I want to get one too, and I am going to camp for a while. Not until about 24 hours before; that's the best I can do. These guys will get media attention (ahem, we are talking about it now) and probably will be on TV. If people in our fame-hungry society will act like a crazy person on "America's Got Talent" for twenty minutes of it, you know people will wait for 9 days outside of a Best Buy for it as well.     I can see why some people say its stupid, but just look at how much they'll get for it if they sell it on ebay. I mean, you could make nearly $1000 in profit from selling the thing, just for sitting around for a couple of days (if you don't believe it, go to ebay and type in "PS3"). that doesn't seem like such a bad idea to me

    Anyone who waits in a lineup this early for the PS3 has no life. Do any of these people have jobs or school? This is so pathetic...no wonder our economy is being surpassed by China. It's moments like these that I really despise the nation we've become...I don't like to bring up politics or stress major issues in a place like this but common...this is seriously lame.
