Titan Quest expansion, new Juiced and MX games on the way

THQ lays out plans to investors, names projects to get in-game ads, appraises Saints Row downloadable content.

In a conference call with analysts and investors today, THQ execs addressed a number of issues, from THQ's plans for in-game advertising to its future plans to capitalize on its popular franchises.

Specifically, the company confirmed the continuation of its Juiced, MX, and Titan Quest series, with new games for the prior two properties and an expansion pack for the third. No details were given about the games outside of release windows. The Titan Quest expansion is expected to arrive between January and March 2007, while Juiced and MX will be released sometime after March 2007.

THQ is also embracing a number of industry trends in the form of downloadable content and in-game advertising. The publisher has already released downloadable content for The Outfit and Saints Row, saying that the latter game's Funky Fresh Pack has racked up 50,000 paid sales already, representing 10 percent of the customers who have gone online with the game. On the ad front, THQ will incorporate in-game ads into three of its upcoming titles: the new Juiced and MX games, as well as the next-gen Stuntman sequel.

The publisher was even vaguer about its other plans. It said that it was looking at making Wii-exclusive games but had nothing to announce yet. When asked about the next step for the Saints Row franchise, one exec said THQ wasn't ready to announce that, but it would likely be addressed in the next conference call. Finally, the publisher acknowledged plans "to leverage and extend" the Saints Row and Company of Heroes brands "for years to come."

Consoles thrive on consumable trash video games, play them - get sick of the same thing over & over, go buy another one. I think all the consoles pretty much ruined the PC gaming industry - just like they hoped it would when everyone concentrated on pumping out this mind numbing console crud.

Strategy: Get kids to beg their parents to buy it - because no sane adult would.

Cry more about "industrialization" and "marketing" while we enjoy the games. Companies just about HAVE to go the expansion route. What if someone made a stick of gum that NEVER lost flavor? Nobody would buy it again.

What if someone made a car that NEVER lost its value, ever got any scratches and never needed anything else added to it, ever? Nobody would buy another one and keep money flowing into the company to keep the company's famliies fed and keep their lives going, just like yours....or are you people who are complaining so blinded by "the MAN" and "conspiracy" theories that basic economic survival strategies evade you?

People make me sick. . . STOP spending money on these damn micro-transactions. These add-ons are a waste of time and money. But people never learn. This crap only inspires companys to put less content in the retail game and make you micro-transaction the rest.

I remember back when i'd buy a game for $50 and be done with it. Screw online downloadable content, sooner or later publishers will hold back all the good stuff, release the game, then offer a million things to buy that should have been in the game in the first place. When i get tired of my ps2, video games and me are no longer friends. Just a bunch of commercialized crap.

    *sigh*"

CheddarLimbo I hear ya. These morally bankrupt executives seem to have hardons over the prospect of intruding in our game experiences with a poorly placed ad. I hear people say ingame ads are alright as long as the game prices go down to reflect the additional revenue. I don't think game prices will ever go down, in fact they are going up, not even counting shady microtransactions like the type EA has been rolling out.

YES! TQ expansion! I don't know why people didn't jump all over that game but it is simply awesome! For now it's the closest thing to D3 will ever have.

I'd care about a Titan Quest expansion if I could be bothered to get through the first act of the game. For a game that clones Diablo II in so many ways, it's astonishing how little I like it.
