Retailers raising Wii displays

Reports from Louisiana already have retailers already hocking accessories for Nintendo's next-gen console, which goes on sale November 19.

In less than a month, the Nintendo Wii will be available across America. However, it now appears that retailers are already setting up retail displays for the next-gen console, which itself won't be available until Sunday, November 19.

According to a series of online reports, the local Target in Lafayette, Louisiana, has already launched displays offering Wii merchandise. Called "endcaps" in retailer parlance, the display offers a variety of accessories for the next-gen console, including colored sleeves for the so-called "Wiimote" controller in red, blue, green, and black. Also on display are booklets for Wii game discs, which will be the same size and shape as regular DVDs, even though the console does not offer DVD playback like the Xbox, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, or PlayStation 3 do.

im getting tired of all theses people saying that people that like nintendo are fanboys, thats just stupid dont you realise that your either a xbox360 or ps3 fanboy , just cos u dont want to buy the system dont diss people that do, im going to get both the ps3 (when its a bit lower in price) and a wii, i allready own a xbox360.

if your not going to buy a wii why post your childish comments here and call everyone a fanboy when your one yourself.

nobody cares if u dont want one.

    Bring on the playstationwii60 LOL.

Sorry Bart, it's confirmed that Gamecube controllers cannot be used in place of Wii Classic controllers. Yeah, I know, it doesn't make any friggin' sense to me either.

OK, I went to check out the Target in Orchard Park, NY (a burb of Buffalo), and yep they had the stuff too.

Somethings I thought were overpriced, but they actually had one that was a good deal. It had two gloves for the remotes and and organizer cady thing to hold the Wii and up to 4 remotes and nunchucks for $25. Since Gamestop is selling just the gloves themselves for $9.99 it's a good deal.

Also, they have gift cards specially made for the wii launch that emit a blue glow all the way around the edge. Too cool.

The other thing I don't see anybody talking about is that the flyer tells about Targets launch day promotion. On launch day (and only launch day) if you buy three Wii games, target will give you a $20 gift card. (enough for that classic controler).

Just thought I'd let you know.

Unless we want to get four wii remotes , 4 classics, 4 nun chucks, and for myself, four gamecube controllers... cause Im a smash brothers fan but used my little bro's gamecube during the summer and winter break to play it.... Actually it would be pretty sweet if we could use gamecube controllers in place of a classic controller for any game that we'd want the classic controller... cause that would save some money and we wouldnt need to buy a classic controller. Anyone know any reliable sources that could confirm this?

"Ugh... we already have to pay 40 bucks a piece per wii remote, and 20 per classic controller, and nun chuck thingy. No sleeves for me."

alright...enough complaining about the price of the controller. they're only $10 more than the ps3's and xbox360's...and they took a lot more effort. i'd say it's a decent price. and it's not like you'll be spending $60 per game...it's just a one time thing. unless you get 3 controllers...

and i went to target and saw their display...i didn't buy anything cause it was all poop. they didn't have any wii underwear.

Hey eddy... since when can light guns sense motion through space? The Wii generates a sensitive inferred field and when the light gun controller moves within the field it shows up on screen. When a beam of light is fired from the gun it displaces a section of the field and that intern registers on screen as a bullet fired.

Is this news? I saw those at a Target here in Nebraska about a week ago. I was hoping it was part of some secret plan to release early, but alas, no Wiis. I was pretty amazed to see they were official accessories though, and not third party accessories. I want my Wii.

No, he means new gen.. you know, a new idea and different direction with games in general. At least that's their philosophy.. we'll have to see how it turns out. Next-gen would be more of the same but a step up in graphics and such, which I'm tired of. If it was current gen it would be just like the gamecube, just with a different name and no technological improvements. When you play games for so long it really starts getting old after a while.. it'll be nice to have something a little different. Most of the younger crowd here can't grasp that though, and that's fine. "

I dont think he really believes this. He is just trying to wind people up. If he does believe this then I would just like to point out to him that I (aged 25) am getting one, my wife (aged 23) cant wait to play it also. My brother (aged 23) is getting one and his wife of the same age cant wait to play it. Also my younger brother (aged 13) is getting one.

Just thought you might like to read this and realise how little you know about reality and the Nintendo consumer. Cheers.

Yeah because you know sony's controller doesn't feel fragile, and Sony and Microsoft haven't had any console failure yet.

Hell Nintendo is the only one that still is producing quality systems. But go think it's for kids, while we enjoy a new way to play video games, you'll be playing on the fun little controller that you've had for 20 years. Sorta like a security blanket, though it's not for kids right?

You say this because of the graphics of the system or because you feel that because the GC had kiddie games that that automatically means this system will have kiddie games? I don't think you know what you are talking about.

Lol... Imagine how mad some kid will be when his Wii controller breaks. Haha. He'll have to wait until Nintendo sends him a new one or go buy a new one at the store... That could get expensive!
