Final Fantasy VI Advance site opens

Square Enix launches Web site for the Game Boy Advance remake of the 1994 SNES title.

TOKYO--Portable remakes of Super NES-era Final Fantasy games, such as Final Fantasy III for the Nintendo DS, have proven quite popular among Japanese gamers. Now, Square Enix is prepping Final Fantasy VI Advance for the Game Boy Advance. Released in Japan in 1994, FFVI was both the first title in the series to use the active time battle system and the last FF game for the Super NES. Today in preparation for the game's November 30 launch in Japan, an official Web site has gone live. At the moment, the site provides just basic information on the history and gameplay of FFVI, as well as a couple of character sketches for Tina and Lock.

THE best Final Fantasy for story and sound-score comes to the GBA! I'm so hyped for this!

This was my first Final Fantasy game, even though all my friends played the NES titles when I was growing up.

It took me months to complete this game, and I'd have dreams about the characters in this game. Ah memories...

thanx for posting that link to the CG video on youtube digital hero! Who else would like to see this game remade, or even an advent children quality movie with the same storyline as the game? I think it'd be a great addition to the FF movies!!!! And if the game was remade with the same style as FF-X, wow, that'd be one hell of a game!!

I already own the original, just like almost every other pre-Playstation FF game, but I'll buy the remake anyway.

Anticipation rising..... I just hope that they don't screw up the music as FF6 had (has) one of the, if not the, best soundtracks in gaming history.

    kinglink2 says,
Ugh, I have to respond to this. In Japan where this site is for. Her name is Tina, in America they renamed her to Terra (probably to make it sound less common). So the character sketches are of Tina, which you may know as Terra.

Funny, I knew a girl in my 8th grade class (1994) named Terra and spelled the exact same way when the game came out.

"Portable remakes of Super NES-era Final Fantasy games, such as Final Fantasy III for the Nintendo DS"

Final Fantasy III for the DS is based on the NES original, not from the SNES. Though it's understandable given the whole FF3/FFVI name difference, which is even more annoying now when FFIII is a new game alongside the game that used to be called FFIII as well.

Best FF game right there. I already own it on PS1 and the soundtrack so I shouldn't buy it again.

I'll probably buy this...I know it's the same game and all, but when that game is as AWESOME as FFVI, I've gotta get it in portable form. I've been playing the emulated version on my PSP for a while now, but it's not the same as playing a (hopefully) glitch-free version...plus I'll have a game in that GBA slot on the DS to actually play...

    Japanese website, people....calm down.

I'm sure they'll change it to the standard for English -- that is, unless Square wants to really upset their established fan base.

Overall, though, I'm hoping for the glitches to be fixed. Yeah, you could use them for your own benefits, but I'm not like that -- I'd rather play it all 'legit'. The only time I use Vanish/Doom is on the oh-so common SrBehemoths in the Veldt. And I really wanna use Sketch/Control on more enemies without fear of a freeze-up.

Really? I didnt know it was Tina in the JP version. I guess that makes sense. I just thought Walt Whyman was a dumbass. Oh well, here's to a great game coming back for round two, over ten years later!

Am I missing something? Why is this news? It's not in english, it's a remake of a great game, but not exactly something no one has seen, everyone knew about the game coming out in japan? It's an OK website, but how much is Square paying to make it appear this is news?
