Nintendo World 2006 announced

Nintendo event focused on Wii and DS slated to hit Japan throughout November in three key locations.

Although Nintendo skipped the Tokyo Game Show, Japan-based Nintendo fans will have an opportunity to see what the big N has been working on at a series of shows planned for November. The event, which was announced on Nintendo's Web site today, will be called Nintendo World 2006. This name recalls both the Nintendo World Touch DS! event held across Japan prior to the DS launch in 2004, and Nintendo's old Space World shows, which haven't been held since 2001.

The event will take place November 3 and 12 in Nagoya and Osaka, respectively. The event will also visit the Makuhari Messe, the very site of last month's Tokyo Game Show and a previous Space World site, for two days on November 25 and 26. There is no admission charge. Visitors will be treated to hands-on Wii demonstrations and sneak peeks of the newest DS titles.

Ryuku- I work at an electronics retailer. A major one. I've seen/heard stories about console launch days.

    -YES- you need to pre-order.

Either that or wait in line starting the day before.

Or buy it on eBay for an inflated price.

Or wait a month or so. That's a choice too. Nintendo doesn't have the shortage problems that the 360 had and the PS3 is going to have, so you shouldn't have to wait too long...

But if you expect to walk in at like noon after the store's been open a couple of hours and find a Wii- I laugh at you.

The quick brown fox jumped over the fat lazy dog over and over again and because of this he went into a great depression and forgort who ehe was in another world besides the fact that the white borad has an erasert on it and the screen is a blue box with a huge source: Computer 1 (RGB) Value in it that stands for red green and blue for a few different reasons and because of this the fact of the mouse has a red laser in it.

Pablo620: like usual Nintendo cant compete with MS and Sony so they hide until the two players are done

to Pablo620: they can't compete with Microsoft and Sony because MS and Sony are multi-billion dollar internationl conglomerates while Nintendo was formerly a family-owned privately managed company until 2002. Nintendo only makes games and proprietary hardware while MS makes billions per month on software and Sony make billions on consumer electronics. So no, Nintendo can't compete. Also, it's because of the Sony/Nintendo free-motion debacle that took place at E3 earlier this year that Nintendo should wait until the others are finished before arranging their market strategies, as Sony has long been known to borrow or "reverse-engineer" (I use the term loosely for the benefit of the Sony fanbase) Nintendo's ideas. And like the previous Space World shows, expect Sony and Microsoft staff to appear anonymously at the show.

I loved the Space World coverages in past Gamespot and Game Informer articles myself and will be looking forward to this year's coverage. Maybe we could see updates of the late November shows on the Wii channels!

I guess Nintendo will have similar events here in the US as well. Unless in Japan, Satoru Iwata announces something big, there's no need for GS editors to fly out there again.

This is a slick move, EVERYONE in Japan loves/wants a DS. So why not do a show that has the DS... AND the Wii? This show will say "Here look, the DS and Wii are related, if u like the DS you'd certainly like our Wii as well. Come and play, don't be shy, its FREE"

I've been deeply dissapointed with Nintendo's last 2 generation consoles but I've got to say, I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about playing a Zelda game on the Wii. I have a feeling this is gonna be a "comeback" generation for Nintendo.....the FORCE has forseen it lol.
