Tiger Woods demo tees off on Xbox 360

Digital duffers can sample four holes in trial version of EA's latest PGA Tour game; free 916.5MB file now available on Xbox Live Marketplace.

While the Tiger Woods series made its debut on the Xbox 360 last year, the game was criticized for a lack of the bells and whistles that are common in the series' current-gen installments. As a result, Electronic Arts has added some of those into Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, and golf-loving gamers can get a taste of them in a new demo of the game, now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Originally expected last month, the 916.5MB demo features four holes from the game: the first hole at Princeville, the fifth at Bandon Dunes, the 16th at Firestone Country Club, and the 18th at St. Andrews. Players who download the demo will be able to tee off as Tiger Woods himself, because he is the trial version's only playable character. The demo also contains a tutorial video demonstrating the game's new "true aiming" system.

The full version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 for the Xbox 360 is expected in stores next week. The game is rated E for Everyone and will retail for $59.99.

Found it thnx. The graphics seem much better than last year. You actually can see the leaf-spot disease in the greens! Tiger's face looks more real but his limbs look a little cartoony. It's kind of fun to hit a drive into a spectators crotch and watch him react too!

I think I'm retarded because I can't find where to download the 07 demo on live marketplace. All I can find is 06. Can anyone provide some insight?

demos rule - bit of a pain having to buy a hard drive just to use them but thats for core users only - yeh the mags were like £6 with dvd game and the demos usually sucked

Is anyone else in agreement that Live is the single greatest thing to happen to videogames in years? I always loved demos but hated having to buy crappy magazines every months to get them. Long live free demos via Live.

It's hard to gauge anything substantive about the gameplay from this dumbed-down demo. It's reportedly set on the second to easiest level. I wish they would at least give us an option to check it out in Tour mode with the assists off! This one is still a rental for me. The graphics are slightly better than last year, but the ball-cam useage is potentially going to ruin the presentation for me. I doubt there's a way to cut it off either

I was not impressed with this demo:

    1) unable to figure out how far I hit a drive or a shot

    2) the lettering is too small. I have a 32" hdtv sitting about 6-7 feet away. 3) Commentary is all messed up. I made birdie on a hole and he goes 'come on tiger' in disgust. Another hole I made triple bogey and then a 12 foot putt and he does a celebration woot animation.

    4) The sound still blows. Ever go real golfing? There is much more outside sound.

    5) Pressing the 'B' button to get the overview of the hole takes way to long.

    6) The detail from the gallery of people look retarded. There is much more detail and animation from the crowd on something like nba 2k6. Maybe 2k games should try golf.

All in all this seems like another rushed out the door EA game in time for the holidays. I give this a 3/10 only because the graphics and achievements are much improved over the 06 version. I'm dissapointed really, I was actually looking forward to this title.

I really like this demo, so I will get the game as soon as I can. Too bad I'am only around 59% done the 06 for the 360. But the 07 does really seem like a lot better of a game. Graphics are reallly improved.
