Service offers GamerScore points for $$$

Levelmy360.com leaves grunt work of getting Xbox 360 achievements to "powerleveling veterans;" packages go up to 3,000 points for $300.

In today's busy world not everyone has enough time to clean the house, walk the dogs, pick up the dry cleaning, or become a Master Thief in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion's Thieves Guild. While several of the above chores can be completed with just a phone call and some cash, the latter was up to gamers themselves...until now.

Like the phenomenon of power-levelling other people's characters in massively multiplayer online role-playing games for a real-world price, gamers can now see their Xbox 360 GamerScore increase while they do other things.

Levelmy360.com and its team of "powerleveling veterans" are offering to increase Xbox 360 GamerScores for money. Low-end rates include 500 points for $39.99 and 750 points for $59.99, with higher-end packages of 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, and 3,000 points going for $1 for every 10 points.

Gamers who use the service are required to hand over the password that is linked to their gamertag (which also happens to be their Hotmail password) and send funds through PayPal.

The site claims to have more than four years of experience in "similar Internet based online gaming businesses" (likely power-leveling for EverQuest or other PC games) and says Levelmy360 was started "due to popular demand."

    i hate this crap though achievements where really fun at first the whole piont system now makes online gaming feel like a who plays games more, not who is actually better at games. i play plenty.

    Maybe I should leave it right there, because that's a pretty quotable line, but I'm not quite done yet.... if you have no time to up your own GamerScore, then why would you CARE about your GamerScore? It's a representation of what you've accomplished....NOT WHAT SOMEONE ELSE HAS ACCOMPLISHED!! It's like having someone p-level you for cash....what's the point, if you never had time to play the game in the first place?!

    And this just adds to the fact that reality television, MTV, VH1, and artists like E-40 and Sean Paul are all so popular. ....sigh....the intelligence of my fellow man decreases everyday.

    This is complete stupidity... I can just about.. Just......just, see where people would want themselves to be ranked up in a MMORPG, so they can do particular missions, or obtain a certain item, that can only be used on a certain LvL,.... etc, but still the aspect to paying for someone to do that is stupid.... Now people are actually paying for there points on Xbox Live, i really can't see the 'Point' (no pun intended)... The whole reason for Gamerscore is to show what you have played and how much, you do not gain anything for having a lot of score, and doesn't give you anything extra, so i really dont understand it... The people who play games and have alot of Gamerscores (I.e someoen from my clan UKR Freeman has 23000 compared to me, UKR Show has3000 - we have a laugh and call him ScoreWhore) But at least UKR Freeman, is playing the games, and still getting an experiance from them at the same time (not all good, i hear from the Game OpenSeason) lol, and is not just renting them in most cases, and using his hard earned money on these to keep, but people just ranking them up and doing nothing from it, to get no gaming experiance at all, is just plain lame...

    Since when are low-end rates more profitable for the consumer than high-end ones?

    You get 12,5 points per dollar for the low-end ones and 10 for the high-end ones (as the article says).

    Someone needs to explain this one to me.

    Oh wait! One more thing. I know how to identify the people that would buy gamerpoints.

    1. They will have Open Season on their recent played games list.

    2. They will be older than 5 years old.

    3. They will have strange Japanese imports on their recent played games list.

    4. They will have 100% completion on these games. (Especially Open Season)

    5. They will have 30 yrs of franchise acheived 2 days after Madden comes out.

    6. They will have 100% completion on games like Ninety-Nine Nights and Bomberman Act Zero.

    7. They will have 100% completion on King Kong.

    These are just a few examples of what gamerscore junkies are willing to do for their score. If anyone out there can think of any others list them here or in the forum.

    Robacon1: you don't know the 360 system to do that sort of comment, you have to have the gamaes anyway. for your information.

    And for the people who keep on saying CBL achievements are worthless, of course they are, just like any ludic activity, it has no value, if someone wants to do something "valuable" should get a job. Achievements are nice to colect, to remember, to discuss how to obtain with friends, etc.. It was a very, very neat idea, and to prove now you're going to have PS3 entitltements...,, and maybe Nintendo "Wiibies", who knows, it's the prove the audience liked it. But it's like a collection, it's suppose to be the collector the ones to get it.

    Everyone seems to be making fun of the fact that someone might pay for the aquisition of useless gamerscore points (which is something to be made fun of), but I find even more distrubing that people give out their account info for powerleveling services like this. Starting up a "power leveling company" is an excellent way to steal accounts and run off. However, since this is all cyberspace here, there's not even any need to run off! It's that frighteningly simple.

    People who pay for achievement points are retards. The number is sortof like a high score, but given that the points go for every game and are of varying difficulty they are meaningless. A person who got 3000 points from schooling King Kong, FNR3 and Oblivion isn't necessarily a better gamer than the person who got all 1000 of the Perfect Dark Zero achievements. Nonetheless, if there's any way to tell that these things were paid for, I'm automatically marking it against your rep... cause I don't like retards.

    Wow. People paying money to artificially boost their score (rank), thereby making that score meaningless. This reminds me of people hacking and using standby modems to win games to boost rank. It completely removes all meaning from the score.

    Those prices are insanely inflated. Power-leveling in MMOs like WoW at least serve of purpose of allowing you to twink out as many characters as you ant afterwards. This... GamerScore is useless. It was a launch craze, but as the 360 sees over 100 games, no one in the entire world is going to have the time to play their 360 just for points. GamerScore ruins the fun of playing. Achievements are fine, but when there are points attached to everything... ugh.
