Rag Doll Kung Fu devs working on PS3 game

Lionhead veterans of Media Molecule sign with Sony Europe to make an "original and innovative" game.

Last year, Mark Healy and some of his coworkers at Peter Molyneux's Lionhead Studios released Rag Doll Kung Fu, an independent game they had made apart from the company in their spare time. Now they will get a chance to show what they can do working full time on creations of their own design, as their newly formed independent studio Media Molecule today announced that its first project will appear on the PlayStation 3.

"The ambition for Media Molecule is to take that a step further and prove that a small (20 plus) and passionate team can deliver a world class, triple A, next-generation product," Healy said in a statement.

According to Media Molecule, the studio has entered into an "exclusive relationship" with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and has been charged with creating an "original and innovative game" for the PS3. While details are scant, the company's official Web site mentions a "Yellow Head" prototype, calling it "damned addictive." It also mentions that the PS3 game will be multiplayer.

Pricing and release-date information have not yet been revealed for the game.

"nemes1s3000 This game is fun for about an hour or so, it's not worth it to port it to the PS3."

Guess you were wrong lol :p

How can anyone complain about a new, original game coming out? If it's for your chosen system then great. If it isn't on your system, then hope for a port down the road. Simple as that. Except most of the people complaining are probably not even interested in this game and just like to complain for the sake of it. Me included I guess.

That's purely opinion. There's nothing in the PS3 launch lineup that interests me so the same could be said of Sony. Different strokes for different folks.

Nice. It seems that Sony Europe is gonna give them a lot of money and support for this small team. They worked on Fable, which is a innovative game, so I have faith in them with making an innovative game for the PS3

As opposed to all the contracts they have for "unoriginal and boring games"?

Good thing they have the added advantage of only 20+ people working on it? Again this is not news...this is hopeful thinking.

By the way, do any of you realize that for the same price of a PS3 you could buy 3 Wiis? That's pretty sad Sony... thanks a lot "

Of course you dont see a lot of sequels for the 360 cuz you dont have franchisees that live up to have sequels...other that Halo, Ninja Gaiden and FMS...well we end up with...nothing worth a sequel...and my friend THAT is sad...

ShtickYoMama, From the looks of things, this game is being published by SONY. Whens the last time you heard a Nintendo published game going on the XBOX? Exactly. Exclusivity is still going to around my friend.

Given the unorthodox control scheme for Rag Doll Kung Fu, I wonder if they'll strive to utilize the tilt-sensitive features of the PS3 controller to great effect. Interesting.
