Ooh la la: Ubisoft assets exposed

Company says info leak could have "serious implications" for dev calendar; file said to contain information on unannounced games including next Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell.

Confidentiality and the Internet do not mix. Late last night, a savvy surfer discovered a 2GB file from Ubisoft's FTP site featuring assets and images that Ubisoft did not want to see go public. So what did the person do? He or she posted the information on the popular public gaming message board Gaming-Age Forums.

The forum roamers are having a field day with the information, working together to post the alleged screens and information as quickly as they can. Ubisoft, on the other hand, is anything but jovial.

In an official statement from Ubisoft, the company said, "We are clearly displeased that confidential information from Ubisoft has been distributed on the internet. The publication of this type of information can only be harmful to the game development process and we will take all steps necessary to prevent this from happening in the future. We are still investigating the events that lead to this information leak and at this time have no further comment."

The file has since been removed from Ubisoft's servers, but GAF member "element," who made the original post, listed the following games with assets in the file (taken verbatim):

Assassins Creed
Farcry 2
Farcry PSP
Farcry Wii
Lost
Naruto
OpenSeason
Prince of Persia
RB6: Vegas
Rocky PSP
Splinter Cell 4
Splinter Cell 5
Surf's Up
Star Wars PSP
Shaun White (Snowboarding game)
TMNT
TMNT GBA

Dissecting the thread yields some screenshots and concept art, as well as possible names for upcoming games like Splinter Cell Conviction and Naruto 360.

While Ubisoft has admitted the leak, the company has not confirmed any of the titles or information.

Its hardly shocking news that Ubisoft are wanting to make more millions, by already laying the groundwork for developing some more sequels to their most popular franchises.

Interesting about the 360 and PC only SplinterCell 5 though........hmmm.
Far Cry was fantastic on the Xbox so another game in this series will be welcome !

What's the big deal? It's just a bunch of pretty concept art. Was anyone NOT expecting another Splinter Cell or Prince or Persia? I was surprised by Far Cry 2 though. I hope its for console and a direct sequel to the first game. Yeaaaa.

That Prince of Persia game must've been for the Wii. And WHAT?!
    Splinter Cell 5?!
I'd say Sam is convicted of disobeying NSA in Double Agent. Since you can choose to kill a guy NSA needs alive. I'm not sure. Interesting though.

Ubisoft probably did it themselves for some free publicity, depending on whether the leaked content is really confidential type... if not, well Ubi you got pwnd.

Hehe! I Didn't Know Ubisoft were as stupid as EA. Remember, they too left the"Tiger Unlocker" for BW2 on their FTP. and now the thing is available everywhere on web. the Tiger Unlocker was suppose to be supplied only with the BW Special Editions. i agree with peterevansuk, ow3ed!

I hope that Far Cry 2 will be more like the original PC game, the Instincts games are just boring, run shoot, run, shoot, run again, shoot more, End.

Covkilla, the link I had for the pics has been taken down since yesterday morning. The link was here:
    http://poplegacy.planets.gamespy.com/PoP_NewGallery/index.php

You can see where it says, "Prince of persia: Zero" but the pictures are no longer there. I'm assuming ubisoft had them pull them like most other places.

Basically the prince looked like a young european style guy instead of middle eastern like he always has in both the original pop games and ubisoft's previous pop games.

Can anyone PLEASE send me the pictures for the new Prince of Persia?! I have been looking for hours and CANNOT find them (and yes I am aware NOW that the images were pulled). So please? Ah yeah, I also heard from these forums that it will be titled "Prince of Persia Zero" due to the file name in the Ubi leak.

In a related story, an unidentified Ubisoft employee was found beaten, tarred and feathered outside of Ubisoft's home office. When asked for a comment, the man said "If they think I leaked stuff, they ain't seen nothing yet! Assassin's Creed is coming to the Wii. Yup, you guys heard it here first! Damn, I'm desperate. D'ya think EA is hiring?"

The prince shouldn't be white, he should look arabic or such.

The big news here is ... wait for it...
Some more Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games...!
Is there really a demand for this stuff...?

They were only marginally cool 15 years ago. Is it just because it's nostalgic now? Someone's been trying for a long time to bring back the TNMT crew... WHY?!
