Eidos' Battle of Midway set for 2007

Xbox 360, PC combat game Battlestations: Midway won't deploy until early next year; release to coincide with 65th anniversary of Battle of Midway.

Gamers planning on rewriting the Battle of Midway later this year have been given some extra time to ready their attack. Battlestations: Midway for the Xbox 360 and PC will be in a holding pattern until early next year.

The Eidos-published game was originally expected to be released this holiday season, but will now ship out in "early Q1 2007," almost 65 years after the real Battle of Midway.

Like the real conflict it depicts, Battlestations: Midway will feature gameplay in the air, on the sea, and underwater. Pilots will be able to switch over to Captains with the press of a button, as gamers can move between every vehicle--including planes, aircraft carriers, and submarines--instantly.

The single-player features 11 campaigns and a dozen bonus missions, and the online multiplayer supports both head-to-head and cooperative play.

Battlestations: Midway has not yet been rated or priced. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's previous coverage.

I remember some games in the past that have done this, lets yous witch before vehicles and roles (except for BF), i think it's tricky to do, as you it'll feel a bit "arcadish" to switch randomly between combat vehicles. The graphics look great, hopefully the gameplay won't be too unrealistic.

i hope the online modes on x360 are well designed. it would be mad to be able to jump in and out of matches like battlefield rather than sort people out in a waiting room

Did anyone check the E3 trailer on Live? In HiDef this game looks beautiful. I have been waiting for this game since I saw the tech trailer almost 3 or 4 years ago.

It's good to see some WWII games focusing on the Pacific. I'll keep this one on my watch list.

I am REALLY looking forward to this game and was hopeful it would be out for Christmas. But I'll get it in January or February when it does come out. Hopefully all three games, COD 3, MOH and this will be great games.

Its cool as in we don't get many WWII set in the Pacific. However, the gameplay better make up for its lack of lookling graphically good. This is going to be a PS3 and 360? It better look better before it comes out.
