PaRappa the Rapper dropping on PSP

The godfather of the modern rhythm game genre promises to bring some funk to PSP owners.

A full decade after its Japanese PlayStation debut and four years since its last installment, the PaRappa the Rapper franchise is getting a new, palm-sized installment. Famitsu.com revealed today that Sony Computer Entertainment's classic rhythm-based music game is being ported to the PlayStation Portable.

The game will contain all six raps from the 1996 PlayStation original, with the graphics reformatted to fit on the PSP's wide screen. New features include head-to-head rap battles between up to four people using the PSP's wireless networking capabilities. The cartoonish character designs of Rodney Alan Greenblat will return intact.

The game is slated for release in Japan sometime this winter under the title PaRappa the Rapper.

All game cosoles try to be the little brother, just like the ds, and the gba, they first had the games that came out on those consoles had already had came out on the ..... well for the gba some of the games came out on the nes, snes, and the ds games some had came from the n64, some other nintendo consoles, so this is nothing to be shocked about, but this is how ever better, because the games that have been coming out for the psp and they had come out for the ps2 already.. well they have some changes made to them, and they were great games, so it is good that this type of thing happens

parappa was a fun game, um jammer was a fun game, parappa 2 was fun, a remake of the original, not so fun. the rap battles will not be worth the price tag the psp games have a tendency to have. kind of like infected......the multi-player of that did not take long to ge bored with, not to mention how hard it is to find anyone playing psp games in my area anyway. i also will just stick with my old mangled copy of the original on ps1.

The game on the PS1 lasted me for about a week, merely because it was so new and innovative for its time. Now it's simply a very short and "decent" music game thing.

Wow. Who cares about this when Sony is going to be rolling out their PSX emulation?! I heard rumors of this, but I was hoping it would be an all new game. Sorry Sony, I'm still not going to buy a PSP. I'm fine with playing this at home. For rythem on the go, I'll stick with Ouendan.
