Tiger 360 to take practice swings

[UPDATE] Demo for upcoming Xbox 360 golf game headed to Xbox Live soon; game hits stores next month.

With old man winter around the corner, devoted golfers outside of the warmer parts of the United States will be reluctantly retiring their swings for the season. However, they will still be able to get a few virtual rounds in, thanks to Electronic Arts' Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, which hits stores next month for the Xbox 360, Xbox, PlayStation 2, PC, and PlayStation Portable.

Xbox 360 owners currently in rain-drenched parts of the country won't have to wait until then, though. GameSpot has learned that the Xbox 360 demo for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace on Thursday, September 14. The exact timing of the demo's release and the details have not yet been revealed.

Tiger 07 doubles the number of playable courses from last year's version, with an even dozen. The game has also ramped up the difficulty, with more of golf's frustrating factors, such as skill, coming into play on each shot.

GameSpot will have more news on the demo soon. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's previous coverage.

[UPDATE] The release date for the demo has since changed. GameSpot regrets the error and will have the latest information on the demo as soon as it becomes available.

Chromium believe it or not it is Gamespots fault. First they post information that shows to be dead wrong and second they have no information on what their source was.

Hell EA sports does not even have this info on their very own forums. I don't think the game will fall short it looks amazing and they listened to the fans when making 2007.

I just think its lame Gamespot post up info like this then does not even say sorry or give the source of their info to redeem themselves.

Come on folks; don't blame Gamespot for the demo not showing up on Live yet....this is EA's fault and is likely a sign that the game is going to fall well below expectations. And that's a shame because I would love to have a golf game on my 360.

I don't know how good tw 2007 will be but Pro Stroke Golf 07 on xbox is really quite good - only problem i find with pro stroke is that you can't save a match midway.

Links 2004 is still the best golf game out there, and BC is great to have for it. However, back in February of '05 Ubisoft announced development for a Vijay Singh golf title. I hope that didn't dry up on us... Tiger Woods is without question the best golfer currently playing, and within a decade he will be the greatest who has ever lived, but EA hasn't even bothered to learn the rules of golf, let alone develop a game worthy of Tiger. I hope this year's installment proves me wrong, but I will GameFly before I buy.

Yeah, someone bought Links when they dissolved XSN, but hey - it remains the "funnest" golf game period (links 2004)

I have been hoping that it will get a surge now that it is on the BC list - it is one of the only Xbox games that plays perfectly on the 360 even while playing over Live.

    Be heard Links fans!

are they now also going to update the fricking PC game engine? because the current one is buggy as hell on modern GPU's.
i know what my system can do but Tiger Woods 06 only uses 10% compared to other games...

PC's are more powerfull then consoles.

It's nice to see playable demos being released on Xbox Live before the full game is available. Now if only they could get the already playable E3 Gears of War demo on there things would really be looking up.

I thought 2K bought the rights to the Links francise too? I liked Tiger woods 2005 and bought last years and wasn't happy about the missing features and ease of AI so hopefully this will be a great second attempt on the 360!

I wonder if EA could improve the game beyond better graphics. I've read some reviews about the new Madden game for the 360 and most of the complaints are that the game still lack some options found in other versions.

  • e_boulanger

    Posted Sep 13, 2006 5:01 pm PT

Last year version was disappointing. I don't think I'll get this new version. I've learned to live without it during the past months. Maybe next year.

while I understand that 12 courses versus the 6 they had last year on 360 is an improvement, it still pisses me off that the PS2/XBOX versions come with 21 courses, and 21 golfers versus the 360's 15. The PS2/XBOX versions also have all the cool mini games, like Skillzone, and they have the new "Team Tour Mode". It sounds like this years Tiger on 360 will be identical to last years with twice the courses and more golfers. I think I may hang on to my $60.
