Though most frightfests are reserved for the trick-or-treating events at the end of October, Vivendi Games and Sierra Entertainment are putting the scare into gamers a bit early.

In preparation for the launch of F.E.A.R. Extraction Point, the expansion for the PC first-person shooter F.E.A.R., Sierra has released a single-player demo for the game. The file is now available for download from GameSpot Downloads. In the demo, gamers shoot their way through a few levels of the game and sample some of the game's weapons, including the new minigun.

F.E.A.R. Extraction Point is currently in development by TimeGate Studios and is scheduled for release on October 24. Though the demo of Extraction Point is stand-alone, the retail version will require a copy of F.E.A.R.

Extraction Point is rated M for Mature and will retail for $29.99. For more information, read GameSpot's previous coverage.
