Scramble stumbles

Xbox Live Arcade game pushed back to next Wednesday to correct "minor issues"; PGR3-themed Uno will be released instead.

Microsoft has designated the middle of the week as Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays, a regular schedule for the company to release new games for its online gaming service. However, this Wednesday has apparently hit a bump in the road.

Scramble, the arcade shooter from Konami, was scheduled to be released tomorrow morning at 1 a.m. but will now be released at the same time next week.

Microsoft offered the following explanation: "During the final testing and certification of [Scramble], we discovered some minor issues that should be addressed. Therefore, we are going to take an extra week and fix these items to ensure a high quality game experience for all when the title does launch on its new date of Wednesday, September 13."

However, Xbox Live fans won't be left completely empty-handed. Microsoft will release a Project Gotham Racing 3-themed Uno deck for 100 Marketplace points ($1.25). Details on the new deck were not disclosed.

Better to wait then release a rushed game that needs patches (ie-Saints Row)......

I agree with SithLord...."micro"transactions are only a good idea for micro$oft and other publishers......just wait until they start charging us for patches to fix their games......

...and what the heck is Scramble?? I've been gaming longer than most people here, but if Konami's going to bring something to XBL it should be the games that were released for the first Nintendo system....although that might be coming to the Wii, which I wouldn't mind either...

Let's see if the PGR3 deck actually works, unlike the themes for Crystal Quest which refuse to be enabled.

Well, it's no big deal. As long as they are fixing issues to keep gamers happy I'm okay with it.

A one week delay for Scramble is minor compared to what Sony are doing to Europeans. March 2007 for PS3!

notTheOracle maybe it's Sony's turn to deliver.

How are Microsoft going to win against Sony when they can´t even release some old arcade games on schedule???? Something is definitely wrong with this company. I honestly wouldn´t be surprised if they pushed Gears of War back / or released it with a lot of glitches. I´m not saying Sony (or Nintendo) are perfect - but its Microsoft´s turn now and they really don´t act as if they wanted to be number one.

I'll buy the PGR-themed deck IF it includes new cards / rules and not just changing the card's theme.

Am I the only one that thinks the PGR3 theme deck should be free? We
overpay for everything else, you figure they'd give us a break on a stupid
    Uno deck theme.

I don't mind, but playing another 100 points for a new theme of uno may not be my wisest investment. If they have different rules though it can be cool.

  • DanteKiller

    Posted Sep 5, 2006 7:39 pm PT

Yay! More UNO themes!! Maybe it will have a new card in it, a la the 35th Anniversary Deck. Hey, why don't we think of ideas of killer new Microsoft-themed cards that sponsor games like Halo or Gears of War? I'm serious! Something cool, like a plasma grenade cards that reshuffles the entire deck and redeals your cards to the same amount that you had, but not the same cards.

I hope they overhaul it and not do a straight port of scramble, I am getting tiresome of the old classic arcade game ports because it only tells me that they are greedy and lazy.

Oh, and by the way, Scramble came out in 1981.

  • rolyat999

I hope the Uno deck is more then a new coat of paint, and adds in new rules or a new card like the 35.

    Posted Sep 5, 2006 7:16 pm PT

Sweet a new UNO! That should be a nice change from standard and the anniversary decks, I wonder if it will have a different way of playing also?
