Assassin's Creed Xbox 360-bound

Ubisoft comes clean, reveals its medieval stealth game is heading to Microsoft's next-gen console same day as PS3.

Lance Bass had one. Milli Vanilli had one. Ubisoft had one. It took some time, but eventually all their poorly kept secrets came out, and in the gaming world, it means Xbox 360 owners will be very happy.

Ubisoft today finally revealed that its anticipated game Assassin's Creed will be coming to the Xbox 360, as many had suspected. The announcement comes a day after the publisher admitted the game would be headed for the PC.

The news settles one of the hottest topics in the gaming world this year, as debate over whether or not the game was sneaking onto the Xbox 360 in addition to the PlayStation 3 raged. Though initially announced at Microsoft's X05 event as Project Assassins in 2005, the game was first shown off as Assassin's Creed and revealed as a PlayStation 3 game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2006--an Xbox 360 and PC version was not mentioned.

Eyebrows were raised at other systems' exclusion, especially since it was originally revealed as an Xbox 360 title. Rumors ran amok all year, as a few believed the E3 demo was being shown on Xbox 360 dev kits, some sites said a loose-lipped Ubi rep confirmed a 360 version at France's Interactive Digital Entertainment Festival, and another Web site posted a preview of the Xbox 360 version.

    This game will kick @ss no matter what platform you play it on! after all its Ubisoft, and they dont exactly make sh$te! its a fresh idea in the swamp of current linear, monotonous F & TPS's, looks like a potential GOTY and its a new franchise meaning that there will be follow ups. Fantastic! Bring it on!! cant wait!

    I'm starting to be skeptic about this game, why the reason it should come out together with PS3, the game did'nt turned out to be that good??, and they don't want players talking about it,? it will get a 7.0 around, because after you climb a few roofs and kill a bunch of people you will find out it is all the Same???!

    simply cant wait for this! will make a refreshing change to all the sub-standard FPS's currently out (EXcluding Orange Box), together with Kane & Lynch, together will complete my year! Bring on UT2008 : )

    Ey JB2B, your rigth about the whole Hashashin thing, I´ve read about it. It´s pis*ing me off to see that Jericho didnt turn out the way pepole hoped it too. I was really looking forward to it but Im not so sure anymore. WHEN GS full rewiew comes out I´ll make my decision but if its not good i´ll probably wait and replace it with assassins creed.

    They should incorporate online play, whereby you are pitched against an opposing assasin, the objective being the first to eliminate a target wins! or something along those lines, maybe even a 1 on 1 deathmatch. That would be cool

    Looking forward to Assasin's Creed. This seems like one of those games where you get sucked into the story. Hopefully they put in some things to extend the playability.
    Funny detail is that you play as a Hashshashin. This is where the word assassin comes from. Some experts believe that Hashshashin means something like hashish user. The story goes that before each mission they would use hashish to calm themselves or to get extra strength. But I doubt this will be in the game since it's to political sensitive in some country's. I'm from the Netherlands (Amsterdam). We know that this soft drug is less dangerous than for example alocohol

    This should be GOTY!! as Halo has been done to death and is nothing special. Hopefully this should raise the bar for all up & coming developers, and it uses all 3 CPU's of the 360, nice to see developers starting to use the power available.

    Yet again Ubisoft prove why they are the Premier game house / publisher (i would say Valve, however Ubisoft have a much more diverse catalogue), everything they do is amazing (even if it is a genre i dislike e.g. Rayman), and Assasins Creed is no exception, i have waited all year for this, as i love this kind of game, a good mixture of thinking / fighting / running and jumping, complete with the ability to take out your objective in a crouded marketplace and simply slip away into the croud. Fantastic, cant wait!!!!

    who cares if its on PS3 and 360...both are awesome. I know ill be buying for for my 360 and not the ps3...though my brother may be getting it for the ps3; which would be cool, so i can do a comparison ^^

    and yeah, as awesome and amazing as halo 3 is, i reckon this will come out on top as game of the year.

    lol i find that funny as coz in early video previews of the game it says "xbox 360 footage shown" long before they said it was heading to xbox, still easily gona b a game of the year for sure.

    on a topical note im really looking forward to assasin's creed. i own a 360 and don't care if the graphics are different from one console to another cos the experience and gameplay will still be the same, and if everything turns out the way its expected, that should be pretty spectacular.

    this game looks AWESOME, same concept as POP but it has more jumping around and climbing up stuff and its also mixed w/Hitman cause you have to assassinate people

    o yeah about the last comment other than mine.... I truely have almost forgotten about Crysis... I wanted it and still do but if they dont bring it to the systems then I'm probably not going to buy it... I mean why spend 1k$'s to make your pc run a game when you can play many great games for less on a system that is less... for the total to play one game you can play at least 15 games.... Yeah get my point .... not saying it's not great it's just not worth that much of and investment... LAterz... Robbie

    Ok wait if we have to wait for the PS3 version .. .crap that means next year.... lol.... nah nah im just playing .... who cares about PS3... o yeah for the people hating on Microsoft... They are fix'n them for free... the reason your boxes.. mine including keep overheating is because of the poor ventilation the box has... we complained about it being so big when the first one came out because we are never happy no matter what people do so they tried to slim it down and when they did it caused alot of crampage... so in away i blame the fans for xboxs demise... even though its not going anywhere... The new ones coming out are suppose to have the new heatsinks an airflow ducts in them not to mention hdmi... So Microsoft is actually doing something it's never done before and actually fix one of its mistakes... So smaller design killed the 360... Xbox was a beast and ran cool... that's all i got to say... I love my 360 and I will buy them over and over again if i have too.. o wiat that's right FREE fix and extended warranties and refunds ... wow .... how about being thankful once in your lives and actually take the time to see that a company is actually caring about your experiences for once.. YEAH WHAT ABOUT THE PS3 IT's FREAKING HUGE BUT DO YOU HEAR ANYTHING ABOUT IT ... NOPE DIDNT THINK SO.... People just love to hate MICROSOFT.... When they made the Tech world the way it is today... Not to mention actually made the Next gen leap done right,,, ok i know im way off subject but i had to get that out.... As for this game... It's the A1 on my list... Laterz...

    this game is lookin far better than the upcomin ones ...crysis is really good...with all the shadow and the blur,but a story line like this one and the amazing gameplay ...this is most awaited if ud ask me!
