TimeShift shifts time to 2007

Vivendi Games confirms new release date for Saber Interactive's first-person shooter; extra dev time given "to fulfill its potential."

Few games live up to their name the way Saber Interactive's TimeShift has. The sci-fi first-person shooter has shuffled its release date several times and has done so once again.

Originally scheduled to be released in January 2005 on the Xbox and PC, TimeShift was rescheduled in the books as a September 2006 release on the Xbox 360 and PC (with the Xbox version canceled) up until today. The game has now been moved "into 2007 to give it the time and resources needed to fulfill its potential."

TimeShift hasn't only shifted release dates, it has also switched publishers over the past year. It began as an Atari game, until Vivendi Games took over the license at E3 2006 and handed over publishing duties to its subsidiary, Sierra Entertainment.

The company doesn't seem to want to rush the product, either. "We are going to release the product when it's ready," a Vivendi rep told GameSpot at E3.

TimeShift is rated M for Mature and will retail for $59.99 on the 360 and $49.99 on the PC. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's previous coverage.

as long as they make the game better, i don't care how long it's delayed. I hate rushed games... for example, taking out the bots in GoldenEye: Rogue Agent was gay (but the game wasn't all that great anyway), not having up-to-date teams in FIFA 07 was painful...... etc.

    GAMES TO LOOK FORWARD TO:
    Half-Life 2: Episode Two (X360)
    Gears of War
    Halo 3
    BioShock (X360)
    TimeShift (X360)
    The Elder Scrolls Travels: Oblivion
    Grand Theft Auto IV (X360)
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories

It started to become somewhat cool after Saber was sold to Sierra. Will it be fixed and rock or be just like Duke Nukem Forever?

in the meantime, might as well play the other amazing shooters that will make people forget about this game (Gears of War, Ranbow Six Vegas, Lost Planet, Splinter Cell Double Agent, Huxley, and Halo 3 are all scheduled for release from now to 2007)

this is ridiculious, they're not even trying to get the game out anytime soon. The 360 is supposed to have alot of good shooters, but the only good one that seems to be coming out this year is COD3. Watch, now that is going to be a 07 release too

This game should not be more than 29.99 for the P.C, people should be realistic. Forget about hot cofee its the ridiculous prices killing the industry, since when did nudity and sexuality prevent anyone from buying a game.

After the demo and the release of Prey who didn't see this coming ... along with Too Human ... besides Gears are there any really good FPS titles that will make it to the 360 before 2007?

Can't complain. I was really looking forward to this game though, but if they're using the extra time to make it better that's fine by me.

They can make this game a whole lot better by cancelling it, and stop trying :-P. Seriously, I don't think any human beings could salvage this game. It's just not possible.

Wow, that's annoying. I finally found a nice game to anticipate too, and you should know I don't like anticipating games cause it's "holding" me back, but here, I'm dissapointed again... oh well... (I really liked to see how would GS review this game).

This is great news. I think it was way to hard to make this game come out this year. And with now with the great voice over cast, they have the potential

Hopefully it's good enough to be a candidate for Game of the Year when it finally appears. Or at least Best FPS Delay Since HL 2.

Good thinking, there are too many games coming out at the end of the year for a mediocer FPS to do any damage, a summer release would be good though.

I think it's great they give time to the devs. The concept is good but the demo that was released in march is not. This has the potential to be a sleeper hit.

this is great news because now that vivendi has taken the game they are actually trying to fulfill the maximum potential for this game... anyone that played the demo can tell that it was being rushed

  • blackIceJoe

    Posted Aug 31, 2006 11:37 am PT

Well better later then getting rushed to the market. The game did not even look like a game I would want. This game was not even a game I wanted to pay 60 dollars for. So unless it is to turn out real good I do not want to spend another 60 on a game.

The rumor on the forums here was actually true, amazing!

Oh well, I wasn't overly excited about this game. It won't probably won't release until at least Q2 2007 to avoid Halo 3.
