TimeShift shifts time to 2007
Vivendi Games confirms new release date for Saber Interactive's first-person shooter; extra dev time given "to fulfill its potential."
Few games live up to their name the way Saber Interactive's TimeShift has. The sci-fi first-person shooter has shuffled its release date several times and has done so once again.
Originally scheduled to be released in January 2005 on the Xbox and PC, TimeShift was rescheduled in the books as a September 2006 release on the Xbox 360 and PC (with the Xbox version canceled) up until today. The game has now been moved "into 2007 to give it the time and resources needed to fulfill its potential."
TimeShift hasn't only shifted release dates, it has also switched publishers over the past year. It began as an Atari game, until Vivendi Games took over the license at E3 2006 and handed over publishing duties to its subsidiary, Sierra Entertainment.
The company doesn't seem to want to rush the product, either. "We are going to release the product when it's ready," a Vivendi rep told GameSpot at E3.
TimeShift is rated M for Mature and will retail for $59.99 on the 360 and $49.99 on the PC. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's previous coverage.
