Microsoft Japan to bring TGS, X06 home

Upcoming industry events will see Xbox Live get the E3 treatment again: game demos, show-specific content, and free Gold membership perks will be made available during the shows.

Gamers who enjoyed Microsoft's E3 E3 Xbox Live promotion and the free week of Xbox Live Gold service, downloadable game demos, and fresh content from the show will be happy to know that the publisher is preparing to do it again--for Japanese gamers, at least.

Famitsu.com reported today that Microsoft Japan will be offering Tokyo Game Show-related content through the Xbox Live Marketplace service September 20-24. The publisher's "Bring It Home ~Oiede Tokyo Game Show!" event will be used to distribute high-definition videos, on-site reports, screenshots, and game demos.

Furthermore, there will be special sessions of Xbox Primetime, and the perks of a Gold Live membership will be free to Japanese Xbox Live users. A similar program is also in the works for the Barcelona X06 event, also scheduled for September.

When asked whether this program will be made available to Xbox 360 owners outside of Japan, a Microsoft rep only said, "We haven't made any announcements at this time."

    To CitizenKang_666:

No, I am not retarded. And yes, I did witness E3. It's not that they don't deserve what we have - of COURSE they do - but they've made it clear by their minimal support of Xbox 360 that they don't want it. Why push for something that obviously isn't really going to work (at least to any great extent)?

The overwhelming majority of industry analysts say that Microsoft dominated the E3 Trade Show, not just due to the HUGE number of high-quality games shown, but also because of the way that Microsoft brought the games and announcements home to consumers using Xbox Live. There is no doubt that Microsoft also dominated the Leipzig videogame Trade Show in Germany, especially with the announcement that the Xbox 360 will be the only place for European gamers to play next-generation Soccer in high-definition video with 5.1 digital sound for the next TWELVE MONTHS!!!

Microsoft always saves their biggest announcements for the Microsoft X06 Trade Show, which is taking place right after the Tokyo Game Show this year. Obviously, the X06 Trade Show is going to be awesome for all Xbox 360 owners in all parts of the world, but it is the Tokyo Game Show that will specifically concentrate on Japan. If Microsoft can focus on their "relaunch" plan in Japan, and do the things at the Tokyo Game Show that they did at the E3 and Leipzig, then the Xbox 360 is truly going to be "relaunched" in Japan, and it will be very popular there! Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are just a couple of examples of games that Japanese gamers are looking forward to a lot for the Xbox 360.

    GET IT RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1-E3 content was NOT exclusive to Americans.
2-Nowhere in the article is written that this will be exclusive to japan.
3-Microsoft has no reason to release exclusive demos for their smallest market fragment.
To sum up, don“t sweat it, even if exclusive content will be pubblished, you can always open a japanese account for free (and receive free gold live for a month!) and get everything for free!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Viva Live!!!!

I understand the bring it home to Japan thing, but why make it so its only available to Japan? and why, if they didnt have it available to Japan when E3 was on? I dont understand that at all.

LOL StudoggyDoggThat made the more sense than most of the posts I read on these forums. I would of liked to see some of the content, but I'm not sweating it. Japan is left out in alot of promotions on XBL so I guess its their turn. Its not like we won't be glued to out PC screens, following the show.

Instead of playing the "desperate stalker" to Japan, why not play the "I don't need you to feel better about myself" card there. Reverse psychology anyone. The Japanese are very biased towards foreign products but are suckers for foreign (American especially) pop culture and trends. If Microsoft would just concentrate on the American/European market and make it boom there, then the Japs will be all like, "Yo, that Xbizzox 3-sizzle is bangin in Amedica. I gotsu to hizzook me up fo **** my nizzo arigatizzo". Because you know they get their definition of cool from us right? :-p Play hard to get Microsoft. My $.02

UltraWoody, Are you retarded? Do you remember E3 at all. Remember all of the dowloadable content available to us Americans during E3? Isn't it only fair that Japanese gamers get the same treatment during TGS? What have you got against Japanese people? It is the TOKYO game show, afterall. Not the New York game show or the Los Angeles game show or the AMERICAN game show.

  • godhandiscen

Stop winning dude, E3 had that treatment only for America, Now TGS will have that treatment only for Japan, and X06 will have that treatment only for Europe. Dont be so greedy let ppl from other parts of the world enjoy the same treatment we americans get.

  • Darth_Tigris

    Posted Aug 30, 2006 9:38 pm PT

You racist children make Americans look bad.

Hope this helps the 360 in Japan, since that's the region where it really needs the most help. The rest of the world has already caught on and is here for the long hall. It'd be nice to have access to all of this too, but I didn't even think about the translation issues. Well here's to hoping we get to play a little something or another.

    Posted Aug 30, 2006 9:13 pm PT

    Damn it, Microsoft...

Here I am, trying to support your actions and your systems and you go ahead and insult the American and European gaming public with this ridiculous annoucement of yours. HOW are we supposed to believe in a gaming company like Microsoft if you continue to bring the premium content and offerings to another country like Japan (God bless 'em) when we, the honorable and fully supportive Americans/Europeans are obviously more deserving? For God's sake - we BOUGHT the system! Did they even show a quarter of the support that we have? No.

I understand a foothold in the gaming hotspot of the world is a necessity for global advancement, but while you kiss Nippon butt, your truly faithful are beginning to lose their faith and the only one you can hold to blame, if you lose them, is yourself. I generally consider myself to be a prudent thinker and a supporter of the public. If you read through many of these posts, you will see my outward disgust for the PS3. That crazy price for a future-proof system that we don't even need. Who needs a thirty-something price tage for ONE Blu-ray when you can get a great ol' DVD for ten bucks? HD my butt. They try to shovel it down your throat like you 'need it' or something. I don't think so. More capacity to me means higher price tag, thus more money for Sony. Only the ignorants will fall for that one.

It basically comes down to this, Microsoft: You know what needs to be done and you need to realize that you are the ones that have to make it happen. Kissing Japanese buttocks and trying to please one of the most biased and racist (against American PRODUCTS, that is) countries is nothing less than a slap in the face of your fellow supporter, including myself. If you continue to take nutty steps like this one, you'll just be pushing poeple like myself into the arms of the Playstation family. At least they show and give their customers the respect they deserve. Can we say the same for you?

I apologize to any gamers I have offended here, but it has to be said. I refuse to accept this kind of treatment from a company I'm TRYING to support and I don't have to take this... and neither do you. Make sure everyone knows it, too. Thanks for reading.

    But it's true!

"According to poster xbdestorya over on the e-mpire forums, the RSX downgrade is true. You may be saying, who is this "xbdestroya" fellow? Well, he is a moderator at the e-mpire PS3 forum, a generally honest and knowledgeable guy who conducts interviews with PS3 developers etc, so we tend to believe him."

"Yes, the Inquirer is trash, but the RSX, pending further news (because it's still subject to change mind you), has been downgraded.

I don't expect a big performance decline due to this myself, and I'm sure you'll hear many a dev back me up on that point. PS3 = Cell well before it equals RSX, and indeed, I have a pretty monster Cell interview coming up in the next 24 hours.

PS - Incidently, I don't think RSX was downgraded because Sony couldn't reach the speeds onsistently, I think it was downgraded because to get from 500MHz to 550MHz would have required a voltage bump that wasn't worth the added wattage and thermal constraints to the system."

PS3 will only sell some units in Japan - 3 times less than Wii.
For USA and Europe there will be 100.000 only.
PS3 wont get enough units because they didn't make any to this day.

And they have problems with Cell and diodes for BR.

Good thing RSX - graphics processor of PS3 got downgraded! Now Sony fanboys will get even more crapy graphic on their cons.. oh SORRY movie player!
