Fight Night 3 bobs, weaves to PS3

[UPDATE] EA's punching bag headed to Sony's next-gen console; new Get in the Ring mode, ESPN integration will be exclusive to system.

In the least surprising boxing statement to be made since "Mike Tyson is batty," Electronics Arts today officially announced a Fight Night game for the PlayStation 3. Gamers have been all but certain the franchise was headed to the console since Sony's pre-Electronic Entertainment Expo 2005 conference, when a live tech demo of the game was shown as EA's centerpiece of the event.

Of course, the only thing not certain was the game's title, seeing how Fight Night Round 3 has been out for the current-gen systems and the Xbox 360 since early this year. Though some gamers thought EA may punch out Round 4 for the PS3, the game will, in fact, be titled Fight Night Round 3.

That's not to say it will be the exact same game. FNR3 for the PS3 will feature some exclusive content, including a mode known as Get in the Ring; details on the new feature were not available. Also in the PS3 version is ESPN integration, which can currently be seen in newer EA Sports games. [UPDATE] EA gave GameSpot some first details on Get in the Ring. The mode could be perfect for those who love the idea of getting punched in the face--it will be entirely in first-person. More details to come later.

Fight Night Round 3 for the PS3 is scheduled to be released in North America and Europe this holiday season and is currently in development at EA Canada. EA did not mention whether or not the game would be a launch title.

i looked at the screen shots on ign.com and they look exactly the same as the 360 version. 600 dollars for the same system. oh and the first person mode in the 360 was dissapointing (the mode that you went into when you threw a haymaker) so if its anything like that, screw it

The Get in the Ring mode is going to be a disappointment. The biggest flaw Round 3 had was the size of its roster. Too bad they didn't fix that.

This is definitely related to motion sensors...^^

Imagine, the opponent punches you, but of course there is no rumble in the PS3 controllers...wait, the screen probably (RUMBLES), and the second punch can be avoided with the motion sensors capabilities

I'd like a mode where you hold a controller in each hand and punch. Your hands in game would mimic the position of the controllers. I dont care who you are, thats fun. Till my arms get tired.

folks this game is almost a year old, does it really matter?

Well from the looks of this artical, it's only going to be a more indepth first person mode, which I really don't care for in a boxing game so it will NOT totally own the 360 version.(even if it does by the time this game surfaces on the PS3 Fight Night round 3 for the 360 will be a year old so who cares?)

But it's good to see that EA has made an effort to put some half baked features for the PS3.

My Response: Finally my dream has come true for a fighting game to include first person Action..... Now if street fighter and tekken are next...im all set. HAHAHA

It's going to be good but how do you automatically know the features of the game just from an article about an incomplete version? Better than the 360 version just because it's PS3 does not make sense at all.

Lazy again. EA ports an old game instead of making it from the ground up for the ps3. why not FNR4 instead of FNR3:ported. well i guess its to be expected being its ea and the football games just get new case covers.

I'm very glad that I decided to wait for the PS3 version. with these new options, this will make FNR3 even more better than the Xbox 360 version, and I agree, I hope that you will be able to use the First-Person view online. That would be just "2 Kool."

i personally think for this game the PS3 motion sensor owns 360 rumble...i mean what could be more intuitive to block than to move the pad in the direction of the punch? although i will miss the rumble...

YAY! Buy this sure-to-be port! Fund EA to help take over more game developers!

Anyway, now that I am done preaching, FN3 is not all that fantastic in the first place. It is very repetitive one you fight, oh, the first 10 boxing matches. I recommend that you rent the thing first and play it for several days. I think only a few will want to continue to play it after that.

I have it on the 360 and recommend all PS3 owners to get this games, it is alot of fun, but this will be a game where rumble would be cool but still it is really fun either way.
