Virtua Tennis 3 nets pros

Amelie Mauersmo, Roger Federer lead cast of featured athletes; PS3, Xbox 360, PSP game holds court in spring 2007.

Sega of America today announced the professional tennis players that will be featured in the forthcoming Virtua Tennis 3. The game is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2007 on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PlayStation Portable.

Leading the roster of women is 2006 Wimbledon champion Amelie Mauresmo, the current number-one ranked player on the WTA. Though he just had a 55-match winning streak in North America broken, Roger Federer remains the top-ranked male player in the world and will also be featured in the game. Both players drew number-one seeds in the upcoming US Open.

This year, Virtua Tennis 3 adds new minigames to the mix, as well as court games, a multiplayer mode that adds "an innovative and quirky twist." This latest edition of the franchise will also let players compete in matches of up to five sets. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's hands-on time with the game at the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany.

The list of players featured in the game is below.

This seems like a cool game, seeing the awesome graphics and players. however i would like to make a few suggestions. This tennis game needs Andre Agassi rather then dent or monfils. also unlike other tennis games. vitual tennis has been known for its not so good career. what i mean is that there arent any generated players in career. only pro players. it would be awesome if the style of career is similar to smash court tennis 2

Great news for a great game, though I don't get why people are saying that Sony lost this game to the 360 when it's always been in development for both systems.

No it doesn't because AM2 is not developing the 360 version its another developer doing it. Not the systems limitations it's the developers them selves. They are different therefore your going to get a different result.

I would have liked to have seen more woman players, at least have the same amount as men. Hopefully there's a career mode similar to Top Spin 2. It added a lot of great replay value to the game.

Yessss.! Virtua Tennis was an addictive godsend for my DC. Now I get all its newfound splendor on my 360. Beautiful! Keep it up Sega. The only real company to be putting up good game after good game lately. Keep um kummin.

I sure hope this game is better than Top Spin 2. Nice to get Hingis in the game, dispite her weak serve.

Decent list of athletes, I suppose. Sega shouldn't even worry about real world players. Since 2K owns most of the WTA lisence, they won't be able to compete with the real-world players in Top Spin.

Virtua Tennis 3 for the Xbox 360 looks great!!! I can't wait to play the Virtua Fighter game for the Xbox 360!!! The Xbox 360 version may not be called Virtua Fighter 5, but it WILL feature online play, unlike the Playstation 3 version!!! I hope we receive more details at the Tokyo Game Show coming up.

So lets see sony has lost exclusivity to GTA, Final Fantasy, Mercenaries, now virtua tennis, those are the ones i can remeber rite now, but anyways sony can't let the third party exclusive titles go to other systems, sony is known for their third party support

    "
Over at IGN they said that the game looks better on the ps3, but it's being developed by two different companies which may explain the difference."

or it could be that the ps3 has double the power of the xbox 360, and it also has 7 different parts of the cell proccessor running at the same time working together instead of just the 1 less powerful part that the xbox 360 has...

also, i hope anna smashnova appears in this game! that would be great!
