Next-gen FIFA, Pro Evo 360-exclusive for 12 months

Two top soccer franchises to kick it exclusively on Microsoft's next-gen system for one year; FIFA getting new engine.

[UPDATE] Konami has since denied that Winning Eleven Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 will be next-gen exclusive to the Xbox 360.[END UPDATE]

Electronic Arts announced that FIFA 07 would be coming to the Xbox 360 this morning, but the news the company wanted to emphasize was what will be running the game--the game's new engine.

The system has taken two years to develop and represents what the company says is the 'single largest investment EA has ever made in the football business'. Innovations include independent ball physics, which EA claims will create unpredictable gameplay, and players that can be recognised by their individual traits and styles of movement.

Andrew Wilson, senior producer for FIFA 07 at EA, said, 'Get ready for the first real next-gen football experience. FIFA 07 on Xbox 360 will deliver athletes that move as fluidly, as realistically, and as intuitively as athletes in real life'.

In related news, Microsoft has confirmed to GameSpot that the Xbox 360 will be the exclusive next-generation home for both FIFA 07 and Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (titled Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 in the US) for the next 12 months. The news marks a major coup for the company, since it eliminates any chance of either of the megapopular sports franchises coming to either Sony's PlayStation 3 or Nintendo's Wii until late 2007.

    summer 2007 well hmm hey i know why worrie bout it now n jus say i told u so when if or maybe it will be multi or single format for a year. but i'd rather be with the 360 as a sports games player at the moment better safe than sorry.

    Will people just read the Microsoft Press Release and not the Gamespot news! Read this. ‘Xbox 360 will be the only place where gamers can enjoy next generation soccer this year’ Er... to me that means 2006! So they are not lieing - there just spinning the truth - and Gamespot and other sites has taken thet to mean ‘12 months” I can’t see anything about 12 months.

    colindr, it seems that you have only yourself to blame for.

    Blade1234321, PC is not considered as a "console" and there is no "Windows" license fee if you publish a Windows game, so the exclusivity does not apply at all. If there is to be a PC version then there will be a PC version.

    Don't EA and Konami realise that they would get much more money if they released Fifa 07 and PES6 on all next-gen consoles! Who cares if they come out a little bit later then the 360 version! This has ruined my Christmas! But I'm still not getting a damn 360!

    Does this mean that both FIFA 07 and Winning Eleven won't even come out for PC? I mean, most people with one use Windows, including me. It said exclusively to Xbox 360, and that it would not be on the PS3 or the Wii, but it didn't say anything about the PC. That would be a really dumb move for Microsoft. Besides, getting them on PC is better because it's cheaper, and if you have a gamepad like I do, it feels like playing on a console anyway.

    Peter Moore said that GTA4 will be avaialable on the Xbox 360 on "Day One", and that Microsoft and Rockstar will provide exclusive episodic contents via Xbox Live. You can find the E3 conference video on Google Video.

    Gamespot heard wrong and said "exclusively on Xbox 360," which is not what Moore stated.

    i went to the page and did not see that. any ways the developers said ps3 will not be getting Pro Evolution in till Pro Evolution 7 comes out and thats not for 12 months

    Yes, it says that it will be released on several platforms, but it doesn't say that it will be released on the PS3, which means that it will be 360 exculsive for the next-systems. The latest interview will also show you that it is coming to various platforms such as the PS2 and DS, but it doesn't say anything about the PS3.

    Konami Japan released a statement on its website denying that PES6 is exclusive to the Xbox360. Hopefully GameSpot will fix this error.

    Yeah I know that PES6 is probably not gonna come to the PS3 as Konami's choice. It's just that everyone is saying that Microsoft made deal that they can't come out with a PES or FIFA for the next 12 MONTHS. So all I'm trying to say is that there's no such deal made of 12 months and if Konami wants to release PES6 in January they can do that

    I guess that IGN,GameInformer and Gamespot are all incorrect? The Game Informer article says that neither title will be in PS3 or Wii until late 2007. Check for yourselves.

    it's for 12 months. I believe websites that were at the Microsoft Press Conference more then the ps3 fanboys that were not even there. the website ign even said 12 months. but u ps3 fanboys most no more then them.

    Actually.. it is you guys who can't read. In the above it says that "Microsoft has confirmed to GameSpot..." meaning that the press release isn't their only source for this article. I guess it is possible that GameSpot is lying, or that Microsoft lied to them but just because the exclusive deal wasn't written about in the press release doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

    I would like hear form both EA and Konami cofirming this whole 12- months exclusive stuff, like i really don't trust microsoft, don't get me wrong i ain't no sony or nintendo fan boi, i love games and own all current gen cosoles, but we all know how microsoft had always mislead us with incorrect info. so lets hope its not ture, cos xbox/x360 suck at sport games............ u all know its true!!!!!!!!

    Good thing i got a 360! The only thing i hope for now is that the gameplay is even better then the past version. Oh, and Fifa 07 is terrible, they can make it only for super nintendo for all i care lol. Winning Eleven/Pro Evo = the better game.

    well, to be honest xbox 360 has the worst controller ever to play a footie game, i played the latest fifa on the 360 and it made the game even worst, so i fact this don't change a thing cos at the end 360 may have an exclusive, but it don't mean its OWNS FOOTBALL, ps3 can play pro evo 6 for ps2 will be the greatest footie game ever as graphics don't make a game, the system and controller does, so this whole exclusivity thing still won't make me buy a 360....... maybe gears of war will or halo. but thats maybe.
