NHL 07 demo skates on to 360?

Electronic Arts' official blog for the game says the playable trial version of its pucks game is already up on the Marketplace; Marketplace disagrees.

It's like a game of he said, she said, only "he" is Electronic Arts' official Web site for NHL 07, and "she" is all evidence to the contrary. The official site was updated Monday with the following note:

NHL 07 is right around the corner but why wait? The Xbox 360 playable demo is live on the 360 Marketplace now! Fire up your Xbox 360 and download the NHL 07 demo before it's available in stores.

The only catch is that the demo wasn't up on the Marketplace as of press time.

This is not the first time the Xbox Live Marketplace wires have been crossed. In late June, when a demo for the 360 shooter Prey was late in arriving, Xbox Live director of programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb wrote on his blog that he cringes when developers or publishers promise to have Marketplace content available by a certain date.

"[G]etting a game through the certification process is very complex," Hryb said, "and often those promising the content by a certain date are not fully aware of all the pieces involved in bringing content to the Marketplace...and then when the content does not appear, well you know what happens."

Actually, our computer chair is on the fritz so I am sitting in a camping chair... Still nothing, it seems that EA is trying to hold us over by releasing new screens every day. I say whatever, anything NHL is good right now.

if you are someone who is freaking out about the demo not being out, and anyone willing to pay exorbanant amounts of money to play the game, you need to just sit back in your computer chair and take a deep breath.

    "veracity024
im prolly still gonna get 2k7 instead.... screw EA im sick of thier BS."

If only I could play more then one game @ a time of NHL 2K6 without having to reset my console. Screw EA? Screw NHL 2K6 and the $60 price tag and not releasing a patch or letting me get any achievement points or playing a season because of the endless loading screen I got after every game. Think before you speak/post, if you are going to go on an anti-EA rant know your topic subject before sticking your foot in your mouth. I have never been so let down on a game purchase in my 21 years+ of gaming then I have been with NHL 2K6. First I paid $40 more for 2K6 on the 360 then I could of bought it on my PS2 with damn near the same visuals but only higher resolutions but it wouldn't even let me even play a season because of the endless loading screen after every game I ever played on NHL 2K6 for the 360. It wasn't my console because it is was the only game I have ever had problems with.

Yeap, certification process...like releasing games with glitched achievements (Tiger Woods, Outpost Kaloki X), low bitrate/artifact ridden trailers (Just Cause is the latest example, not all suffer from this, but it's fairly common), DoA 4 and Wrestle Kingdom's save issues at their respective launches, framerate issues (Quake IV is horrendous) and patches that glitch up the game (PGR 3)

Sure seems to me like they just get something and throw it on there...then hide behind an excuse of certification when it's not out right away.

Now, before some random person calls me a troll, look at my profile, I've spent quite a bit of time on my 360 as my GamerCard shows.

    Posted Aug 22, 2006 10:29 pm PT

i just dont understand why there is such a lack of communication between the two parties. What is so hard?

And yes, we all know that 2K7 looks to be more of the same, so we'll be able to compare them and see if the new gameplay is superior to stuff we're used to.

Gary Thorne is the damn icing on the cake!

NHL 07 is going to be the best hockey game ever made. For the first time we will have realistic physics and the puck trajectory is not pre-determined.

    Congrats to EA!

  • zsciaeount

    Posted Aug 22, 2006 7:42 pm PT

This may sound trite, but the fact that EA has Gary Thorne as a commentator is a real feather in their cap. I've purchased 2K for the past three years and was quite happy. But, with a monumental difference in presentation, and closure of the gap in gameplay, it's going to be a tough choice, and if there's enough decent gameplay, Gary Thorne may be the deciding factor.

there's no sign of the demo in UK anyways, i wanna check this game out, the dual analog stick control is compelling enough to check it out, even though i know nothing of NHL or Hockey.

I saw that Sudden Death movie with Van Damme a few times though >_

EA updatead their website to remove any reference to this. So the press release is written, but when did they mean to post it... that's the question.
