Asphalt sequel rolls on portables

Ubisoft to publish GameLoft's street-racing sim Urban GT 2 on DS this November, PSP next March.

GameLoft's Asphalt: Urban GT has already appeared on mobile phones, the N-Gage, and the Nintendo DS. Now the street-racing series is getting a new installment and a new platform. Ubisoft today announced that it will publish Asphalt: Urban GT 2 on the DS in November, with a PSP version to follow in March of next year.

The game will feature three dozen licensed cars and motorcycles racing on 30 tracks, as well as six game modes and the ability for players to tune their rides to suit their tastes. To complement the game's urban atmosphere, Ubisoft has acquired the rights to use music from Moby and The Pussycat Dolls, with the latter act even putting in an appearance in the game.

The PSP and DS versions of the game have not yet been rated, but a previously released N-Gage version has been rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older.

Can't wait for the DS version. I have Asphalt 2 on the N Gage, truely a fantastic title. Hopefully, the game can live up to its excellence on the PSP/ DS.

Sweet! I hope they fix up the graphics a bit and maybe make it so its not the same crash-spinout thing. Other than that the first one rawked.

I have Asphalt Urban GT on the Nintendo DS, really the only good racer on the DS. I hoped for a Second one ever since I finished the first one, now I will get it.

I was playing the ds ver just last night. My son really likes it. It isn't that it is a bad racer but that it lacked any real ds features. I liked ridge racer with the idea of driving with the stylus but how much more could you do with a racer. Hopefully there will be full on internet play this time around.

Awesome, I loved the first game, as they did an excellent job of smooth controls on a D-pad. Looking forward to this one, for sure.

Hopefully the DS sequel will be built from the ground up cos the original reeked of n-gage port e.g. the dodgy draw distance and awkard looking graphics. Whoever gave n-gage a vertical screen helped make the original Asphalt a flawed but fun game.

I thought the first was a solid game on the DS, I kept on playing it for a while, and still occasionally play it now. Having both a PSP and a DS ill have to see which version is better, but ill probably get it. I have played Asphalt: Urban GT 2 on my ill fated Ngage QD, was more of the same of the first title, just as said with more tracks, cars and everything.....

Even though the ratings where only ok on it, I enjoyed the first asphalt as well. Now if I can pick this one up for the same price ($5.98 new) that I got the first one I'de be watermelon strawberry happy.
