PS3s, PCs ride the Metro

FPS from 4A Games coming in late 2008; story sees human survivors of postapocalyptic Moscow battle mutants in the subways.

When is this train going to get here? I've been waiting 20 years!

Russian developer 4A Games has announced that it is working on a new game for the PC and PlayStation 3 titled Metro 2033: The Last Refuge. The game is inspired by the book Metro 2033 by Dmitriy Glukhovskiy and is set in a postapocalyptic Moscow.

By taking refuge in the makeshift bomb shelters of the Moscow subway system, thousands of human survivors were protected from the heavy radiation that killed off much of the world and spawned new species that now roam the surface.

The Last Refuge is described as a first-person shooter with role-playing elements and is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2008. 4A Games claims that interacting with various political factions will be a large part of the game, and several different styles of combat will be available for players.

    I thought this game was coming out for Xbox360????? I just finished reading an article/review of this game in my Official Xbox360 Mag from microsoft.

    I've just seen the screenshots for this game and they look a lot like the X-Ray engine.

    It seems like a very interesting concept for a game, and I hope it is executed well.

    and, to anamnawshad, wishfull thinking on your part does not mean that a developer will abandon the platform of their choice.

    I always get a kick out of the 360 owners who slither into every PS3 newstory about a game announcement and inevitably whine "I hope its coming out for the 360"! Maybe if the 360 had more than 1 or 2 next gen releases (15 year old pricey downloads don't count as next gen games) every month then they would be happily playing their games instead of pleading for more. So far after almost 1 year the quantity of releases is looking disturbingly similar to the Gamecube. MS had better step up the game output or lose a portion of their faithful to the PS3 and Wii.

    Shame people aren't so vocal about the never ending supply of PC Strategy games. The Screens look pretty sweet. 2008 is a long wait tho.
