Iron Maiden takes Downhill Jam

Metal legends contribute song to Tony Hawk game for Wii; "Different World" will blare while gamers skate down streets.

Shooting down steep hills on a plank of wood on wheels just wouldn't sound right accompanied by polka, classical, or opera music. One of heavy metal's classic bands, Iron Maiden, will be included in the soundtrack to Activision's Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, reports music Web site Blabbermouth. The song "Different World" from the forthcoming album A Matter of Life and Death has been selected as part of the game's soundtrack, says Blabbermouth. Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam is scheduled for release on the Wii, Nintendo DS, and Game Boy Advance later this year.

Alright! Now it would be better if more games had Iron Maiden tacks on them. I could just see it now: C&C3 with The Clansman running in the background.............

"Maiden is the only heavy metal band from the 80s that has kept their standards up over the years."
Yah alot have fallen, especially Def Leppard, what the hell is with all this pop bull carp? ._.
Ah oh well, I hear the newest album will have more hard rock
    And Maiden ftw
I hope they follow SSX on tour and have a metal theme ^_^

I forgot that what kind of music you listen to determines if you're a "real" skater. I guess only "cool" people listen to certain music then, as if personality could ever possibly figure into that >_> Obviously it doesn't for some people........

Huge coincidence. I just ordered my Iron Maiden tickets on TicketMaster, and then I went to Gamespot and saw this. "Different Worlds" is an excellent song, and I'm sure the rest of the soundtrack will be rockin' as well.

Just because a game is different than it's predesscor it doesn't mean it will suck. Be open minded.

'Run for the Hills' would have been the better choice, since the game is all about hills...

I don't think Classical would be so bad fo the game. Just think about it.

It's nice to see some retro stuff. I know GTA is retro when it comes to their music but other games should do the same. I'd like to see some of the artist from the golden age of hip-hop (1993-1997) appear on some games, also, a lot of the rock from the 80's, such as Guns n' Roses, Motley Crue, and other one hit wonder bands. I'll tell you, hip-hop was at it's peak from 1993-1997. Everything after that went down hill. Tribe Called Quest, Bust Rhymes, Biggie, PAC, The Wu, Craig Mack, Dre, Snoop, Warren G, and others put out their best work within those 4 years. It'd be nice to see a bit more of the good stuff during those great times. Everything these days is just junk.

Great, a story about a kick ass metal band's song featured in a next gen video game, and someone has to bring up My Chemical Romance! Thanks for killing the moment Somacruz145, emo asswipe.

I was thinking of getting this for the Wii, more hard rock and metal tunes would finalize that decision.

"Well ... I haven't listened to any songs from them ... what about other bands ? I want My Chemical Romance !"

Ummm....*snort*, the last time I checked, REAL skaters don't listen to emo garbage.

Wow... I don't know what to say. I mean... I have nothing against Iron Maiden (anymore) but I don't think they're the best band, and I especially belive that they're not the best band who's music should be played in a SKATING game. Well actually... Downhill Jam is just a cheap bootleg version of THP8, and it's not even going to be part of the series. It's more of a... "side project" I guess. I mean this game has nothing to do with the other games (other than the name) and the fact that there was a level in THPS (i think) that was called Downhill Jam. It's just basically a cheap racing game... but we'll see if it's any good or not when it comes out. I highly doubt it tho. Oh and another thing... I wonder how many idiots are going to buy this game just because it has an Iron Maiden song in it... lol.

While I'm not a very big Maiden fan, I'm glad to see metal of any kind being put into a game. Tony Hawk has always had good soundtracks (THPS3 was the best, with the Ramones, AAF and even Mad Capsule Markets got in) But Tony Hawk's games aren't really exciting anymore, you've played and seen it all before....

That is awesome. GTA VC still had Maiden, Ozzy and Slayer on the same soundtrack so that still clinches it. hopefully if they get more bands it will be the best soundtrack ever. Well next to guitar hero, that has the best soundtrack ever.
